I was expecting high 70s to be honest.

Reading a few of the worse scored reviews, all I'm seeing so far are the same complaints that I had with the series since the first game. I guess that, since time has passed, the faults have become more glaring and the standards have risen. I'm still going to try it, regardless.

Fatal Frame 2 is generally considered the best in the series and it had a metacritic of 81 on PS2 with a user score of 92. The series is generally underrated overall.

On Wii the port had a meta-critic of 77 and a user-score of 8.6.

For the type of game it is, when it was released, and the priorities of the game I am not surprised that it has an average near 70%. That is nowhere near bad, and considering the underrated score of the series in the past, that translates to something like 80% for non-critic
