Forums - Gaming - Your "Preferences"

Man I haven't heard of Bernays for quite a while yet. Guy could have sold life insurance to a dead person if he wanted too huh?
But I tell you one thing, there have been many a time when I thought "do I like this game because I like it or because everyone else said it was great"?
When it comes to us, as humans, it makes sense we would take cues from others about liking things since we are such an insanely social species of animal. We want to like things others like so that in turn others will like us as well you know?

Sorry if it seemed like I got carried away there but since your question has a heavy psychological element to it I couldn't resist haha
But hey when your uncle is Sigmund Freud himself I guess it shouldn't be a surprise how psychological Bernays' theories were.

I came into this topic expecting to list my preferences where gaming is concerned. After reading the OP, I've decided to still do that, just because.

Consoles > Handheld (consoles) > PC.
Controller > Mouse & keyboard
Sony > Nintendo > Sega > Neo Geo > Microsoft.
2D platformers > 3D
3PS > FPS
Single player > multiplayer
Locked 30 fps + good graphics > 60 fps + okay graphics > sub 30 fps + amazing graphics
Sports, sim, MOBA & strategy < racing < pretty much every other genre.

I like what you made, so I chose to make one myself based on yours.

pixel art > vector art

60fps > 30fps whatever the graphics quality, though to me 60fps is better graphics

single player > multiplayer, especially since I love SP-only genres like adventure

2D platformers = 3D platformers since both can be amazing

gamepad > trackball and keyboard > mouse and keyboard

handhelds > consoles > PC/Mac (though at some genres PC/Mac are better than consoles)

Nintendo > Sony = Microsoft (never owned an MS console, but they have Halo!)

third person perspective > first person

designed > randomly generated
