86 is still a great score, I'm just curious as to why The Last of Us Remastered got a 95 overall (The same as the original game), whereas this is two points lower than the lowest in the trilogy, which was Drake's Fortune with an 88... maybe because back when The Last of Us was remastered, remastering was a "new" thing for this gen, whereas now we're getting them pretty much every month so they're being seen in a different light? Like reviewers are saying "Yeah, they're three great games... but it's just a remaster", which is why points are being deducted.

... Just a theory anyways, but either way the score is still decent, although would've liked to see it at least on par with Drake's Fortune at an 88... oh well, still gonna' be buying, playing, and loving it! :)

I think it's primarily because TLOU was still pretty new, so it was treated more like a delayed cross-gen release than a traditional remaster. We were also only a few months into the 8th gen (thus few titles were making good use off the new hardware yet), which made TLOU's 7th gen foundations much less of an issue than if it released today.

Uncharted on the other hand, while still great, has not only aged a lot more than TLOU (particularly the first), but has to contend against higher technical standards. Couple that with the lack of MP, and i think anywhere in the 85 - 88 range would be fair.

On a side note, i expect UC4's existence has hurt it slightly too. It's one thing to know a game is technically outdated, it's another to have gameplay from its successor point a finger at it and going 'Ha, look at this scrub. Does he even subsurface scattering?'.

It's because TLOU is still the only true next gen game and the PS4 enabled it to run in 1080p/60fps.

Yeah, that AI is definitely next-gen.

Yep:

If you search harder you can find even worse glitches that those. Fortunately, during my 10 paythroughs of the game (7 on PS3 and 3 on PS4), I never came across one of them. As I suspected though, there is absolutely no point in explaining why TLOU is a true next gen game. You either get it or you don't.

The PS5 Exists.

That seems the right score for the collection. Let's compare this to metas of other remasters and remakes:

Tearaway: Unfolded - 82

God Of War III Remastered - 81

Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition - 82

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition - 77

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition - 85

Halo: The Master Chief Collection - 85

Still, I find it sad that reviewers go on haping the "mass murderer" line, as if it gave them any credibility (not that this is entirely false, but honestly it makes no sense in the context).

the only points I see some people taking against this release is the lack of multi-player... which for me is a non issue, I don't think I ever even tried the MP portion of any Uncharted game, and with the MP only titles coming out lately this is a good thing to keep them separate + Uncharted 4 will deliver the goods for this in a few months... I honestly would not even know there was uncharted MP if the gaming press did not talk about it :-/

The score is fine for a remaster, the last of us was an exception. Yet playing the mass muderer card now is a bit odd. Name me one action game where you don't play a mass muderer / conflict profiteer. The body count has only gone up since Uncharted.

For me it's the price holding me back. $75 in Canada, I'll hang onto my ps3 versions.

not to mention, he's not murdering anyone, the are violent enemies that seek to kill him. he's not just going down the street shooting innocents.
i dont get critics and this repeated claim they make

Sometimes, he does.  Any time he stealth kills someone, be murders them.  If he kills like five guys via stealth and the other fifteen try to kill him (and he kills them for defending themselves)...... maybe he is the bad guy!

Not to mention the poor museum worker in Uncharted 2 that got thrown off of the roof.  They even joked about it ( There's a guy about you! There a guy above you!  There a guy below you, there a guy below you!)  I blame Flynn, though.  He was a bad influence.

isnt that the only guy you kill at the musuem? every other guy is tranquilizer? and i just assume, he stealth takes out the rest. maybe im wrong.

but other than the museum guys, i feel like stealth kills in the series were all against mercs trying to kill him

It's kinda hard to argue self defense when you break into a place. It's a game anyway, yet would be a fun court case. "So here we have 800 counts of erm self defense?"

It's our own fault. Complaining about bullet sponges / hard to hit enemies in the past, so now we get waves of cannon fodder for target practice. It is getting ridiculous though, I started skipping the shoot outs in GTA5, it's not fun anymore.

Sometimes, you just have to overlook certain things in games. I was playing Tomb Raider this morning. I killed a gut while he was taking a piss. I just assume he was going for his gun. It had to be done!
