It might not be close to being my personal favourite, as that goes to Final Fantasy IV, I'd still say it's one of the best ever.
Two words: Vagrant Story
One of the best ever for sure, but not the greatest imo. Regarding J-RPGs, for me the goat would be Final Fantasy VIII but regarding RPGs overall, nothing beats the original Fallout.
