Forums - Sony - Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 Pre-Orders Have Gone Live

Let's see how this does on Amazon:

Normally, when one pre-orders a game, the wait until said game reaches you isn’t usually that long. Maybe a couple of months?

Rise of the Tomb Raider for PS4 is probably the longest wait you’ll ever experience once pledging to buy a game – unless a game is delayed by a good few months, at least.

The PS4 edition of Rise of the Tomb Raider is available to pre-order on Amazon, and as expected, there aren’t any special or limited editions listed just yet, though we imagine they’ll come eventually. It’ll cost you a ripe $59.99 and you’ll be waiting until this time next year to play it, maybe a bit longer. It’s due to release sometime during the Winter of 2016. Christ, you may even die in a horrible accident before it releases.

PC players only have to make sure they survive for a few months as Lara’s adventure will release on PC in the earlier months of 2016.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will release on Xbox One and Xbox 360 this November 10th. PlayStation players will have to make do with live-streams and numerous Youtube videos.

[Update] Spotted by N4G user Eonjay, the description that Amazon provides is also quite interesting, particularly the last part that we’ve put in bold font. Shots fired already?

  • Awe-Inspiring Deadly Tombs – Explore huge ancient spaces littered with deadly traps, solve dramatic environmental puzzles, and decipher ancient texts to reveal crypts as you take on a world filled with secrets to discover
  • Woman vs. Wild – Conquer a world fiercely protecting its secrets, endure perilous conditions and unstable landscapes, face dangerous wildlife that act as guardians to ancient tombs, and explore huge interactive environments
  • Guerrilla Combat – Use the environment to your advantage, scale trees and dive underwater to avoid or takedown enemies, configure Lara’s gear, weapons, and ammo to suit your play style, craft explosives on the fly to sow chaos, and wield Lara’s signature
  • Unprecedented Visual Fidelity – Utilizing the full power of the PlayStation, Rise of the Tomb Raider comes alive with deeply immersive and interactive spaces delivering the most visually stunning Tomb Raider game ever made

Article is a bit slow to see this. I've had it pre-ordered from Amazon since August 15th for PS4.

Mmmmm...nah, I'm good.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Well its the same game being made so obviously it will be the most visually stunning tomb raider game ever made...You console guys, I swear.

Yeah, I've just checked on N4Gs and someone flagged it as old. The other article was posted over a month ago.

Seriously ? How did MS allow PS4 pre-orders of this before it launches for them. Isnt this like a terrible blow to the whole being marketed as exclusive thing ? About the pre-order itself I think anyone whoo does pre-order it now is kinda nuts, its way too long before release and  PS4 players have the advantage of waiting till it releases on XOne reading the reviews and actualy forming an opinion about the product rather than pre-order blindly.

I think if they can use the game to get attention for the holidays,  then Microsoft doesn't really cqre if the sales crash and burn.  Lara is just something for them to use. And I have a feeling that simply keeping it off of PlayStation means more than making this game successful.   It stopped mattering the moment Uncharted got delayed.

PS4 version was neck and neck in pre order chart on Amazon last month when I checked, it was only 100 place difference. And it kept that average for two weeks after getting listed. Not bad for a game over a year away.

Guess ppl really WILL wait for the PS4 version :)

Poor Microsoft.

Its more like poor Crystall Dinamics realy. Im not sure they realise how badly this can hurt them. I hope the game sells as well as it deserves (if it is a good game, wich I believe itll be), I dont think any amount of money MS could have given them can pay for bad sales while launching on the hollidays.

I will not be buying any of their games for one, dunno how many feel as I do.... probably not as many as should. Paying to keep a game away from another platform is poor form and only encourages retaliatory responses from competitors. Only gamers lose, both sides.
