Forums - Sony - Will PS4 start tracking playtime soon?

LuckyTrouble said:
I really don't care if something tracks my playtime. Of all the features I'd like to see in future PS4 updates, this is so low on the list, I can't even be bothered to make a decent metaphor.

Agreed.  Not really on my list of things to care about.  Besides, there's no possible way I ever (or anyone ever) beats my current record holder.

It would be a nice feature to have, but there are definitely others I would like to see more.

Sony refuses to give us features with want with the firmware updates. Haven't you figured that out already?

I can guarentee if Sony added everything YOU asked for in the next firmware there would be other people saying Sony refuses to give us features we want with firmware updates.

The PS5 Exists.

No, I don't really need to know how much I play every day. The only feature I want Sony to add is external HDD support. Come on, it's not asking much.

I think we'd have a whole lot fewer compaining if we got:

*Folders

*Notifications when friends come online

*PS1 and 2 classics

*Ability to change PSNID

*Trophy progress tracking

*Playtime tracking

*Gifting on PS Store

Give us some of these, not that stupid social crap they are giving us atm.

But the internal is so simple to switch out.

Eehhh...probably worth adding just to give people one less thing to complain about, but I don't see any other reason to have it.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Sony can't even add a notification for when your friends come online, a time played function is way to technical for them.

But zooming feature, sleep mode and changing button layout when ever you want arent

I also have a white 8GB Wii U, nothing beats plugging and unplugging my external hard drive. It's really really simple.

Assuming the system is reasonably programmed and there's a programmer that knows the system, it ought to take that programmer a couple of hours max to program the feature. And if it's not reasonably programmed... Well, there's bigger problems.

My point is that it should be so easy to do that there's two possible reasons why Sony hasn't done it yet:

  • It's not in their interests for some reason.
  • They haven't thought of the idea (in which case they suck at their jobs).

Its called prioritization. In a REAL programming environment it takes a lot more than rogue programming.
