The above thread is about my friend and family pet Tripod, who was seriously ill and dissapeared around 25 days ago. Today his original owner, whom I hadn't seen in around six years, came to my door. She said "are you part of the family that owns an orange cat called Mort (his original, rather horrific name). I said "yes ma'am, I am." She said, "Mort has been handed in at the local vetinarian surgery, and his microchip led them to find me."
After recovering from my faint, I was overjoyed. Poor Tripod is not in the best of shape, having been off his medication for 25 days, sleeping god only knows where, eating god only knows what, and simply not looking after himself. But Tripod, my loved cat whom I was convinced had died, is now sleeping on a chair next to me. The Vet's assertion that he won't last more than a year holds true, and the upper limit is probably less due to all the weight he lost in those 25 days.
This aside, I am deliriously happy to have him back, and my family will do everything we can to make his life as happy and comfortable as possible, though from now on he must be an indoors cat.
Thankyou to all those that posted your condolences and support in the last thread, I thought you all deserved the good news.
