Forums - Nintendo - Does no real Mario, AC, Fzero, Metroid or DK this gen pretty much guarantee they are coming on NX?

Lets just leave it at Alot of people dont consider Mario 3DW to be a real 3D game.
Some here think it is, but just as many probably dont consider it to be one.

"I find it ironic that people are always going on about Nintendo needing to change things up and when it happens they start saying it should be like a previous game."

Mario 3D world, tries ALOT to be a modern version of the very old Super Mario World.

I find it ironic, that you used that logic in this case.
Its a new game, thats almost like a really old 2D mario game.

Whatever, to me the concept of Mario 64 was more fresh and new, than trying to make a 3D, 2D platformer.
It probably just boils down to me wishing Nintendo did a new mario 64.

2D mario platformer burn out, been to many of them lately.
Also I honestly dont feel like they have been up to pair, with older Mario games that where real 3D mario games.

Wrong. Mario 3D World don't try to be SMW, but SMB3. Aside of that, I agree. People don't want to understand that the statement "not a real 3D Mario" = "it is not an adventure Mario game like N64, but more like a SMB3 in a 3D space". And nobody is denying that the game is bad, it's actually fantastic, but not what we expected after Mario64, Sunshine and Galaxy.

By a lot you mean a select group on forums moaning that it's not like another installment they prefer, 3DW doesn't try at all to be like old 2D Mario it takes elements from the whole franchise to create a new approach that's what a new approach does. I suggest for a start look up what 2D and 3D is not just you but other moaners as well, it gives you an idea of how silly the notion of real 3D Mario you lot have built up is as it means that 70% of all other games aren't 3D under the same logic.

It's SMB3 in a 3D space. An before you tell me otherwise, yes, I have played both games a lot. 3D World is their approach to gain userbase for the "3D" games putting a lot of elements of the 2D series.

Play them again then, 3DW takes elements from the whole franchise, 3DW's approach is to bring all the elements together hence the variety in the levels from racing, puzzle solving, shoot em ups to traditional platforming.

In the previous games levels were becoming missions just to get stars, were as the 2D games had levels with each different concepts to get through, 3DW took elements from both to create a new approach.

Played recently, like a week ago. I can tell you: it's SMB3 in a 3D space, that's why I like.

Thank you, thats is what I mean.

Its a 3D version of a very old concept of a 2D game (be that SMB3(nes) or SMW(snes)). It plays to much like a old 2D game.

We ve had alot of 2D platform games from nintendo this gen, to many actually I feel.

We have lacked a "true" 3D platformer.

There will be burn out from 2D platformers, next gen for Nintendo.

If they make another facking 2.5D platformer (mario game), its going to bite them in the ass (for the NX).

So have I, it's only really like SMB3 in a few certain levels but not in overall design, it's a mix up of every game in the franchise.

Maybe "mix up" part is kinda true.

But its most like the old 2D platformers (SMW or SMB3), its just rendered in 3D.

Thats what the game "feel"s like, and why people say its not a real true 3D mario game.

That is the point Im trying to make, and what I think most that claim it isnt a 3D mario game mean.

Its annouying to just be met with "its a real 3D game".

No sh*t its running & rendered in 3D, but it still plays like a 2D game.

You can call it 2.5D, but its not a real 3D game.

It's not, you and others only acknowledge the 2D elements more because they'd never been brought into the fray before so they stand out more, the are many elements from the Galaxy games in how 3DW is executed more so then any other installment in the franchise only difference is that gravity wasn't the central concept it was varied. Even if you watch a number of levels in Galaxy 1 and 2 the share very similar designs to 3DW.

Like it or not it's a real 3D Mario game, if you don't like to be met with that response then it's time to drop the silly "Not Real 3D Mario" stance because it is.

You don't know what a 2.5D game is.

This is a 2.5D game :

And this is a 3D game :

So have I, it's only really like SMB3 in a few certain levels but not in overall design, it's a mix up of every game in the franchise.

Let's start:

Map is like SMB3. Diferent themed worlds. So first and important thing to mention because this is what people get as the first impression. 3D series have a hub world to explore and discover new worlds to explore.

Flagpoles are 2D elements. Flagpoles means you reach your destination. Stars belongs to 3D Marios. Stars means you completed your objective, like solving a puzzle.

Timer, another 2D element. You have to move fast to reach your destination (flagpoles). Timers don't go along 3D Series because you need a lot of time to explore. Meanwhile, in the 2D series is necessary to play with the feel of urgency.

8 direction movement, no "real 3D" move.

Green Stars, Coin Stars, Comet Stars, Dinasours Coins. Whatever you want to call, those belongs to the 2D series. Collectables hard to find/reach and more with timed levels. In the 3D series, the only thing you have to collect are Stars. Sunshine tried with the blue coins but at the end those were used to obtain even more Stars (Shine Sprites).

Levels. In the 2D series like in 3D Worlds the level is used only one time, you beat it, you progress. In the 3D series, you have different worlds to explore time and time again and do different objectives in the same location.

BTW, let's remember that SM3DWorld is the succesor of 3D Land, a game that was announced as an approach to reach the 2D series fan base with a "3D" installment.
