Speculating on the speculations that are based off of speculations based on copyrights and further assumptions? I'm glad to see this is too much even for other people.

It goes without saying though that IF Nintendo's console successor, whether it is the NX or something else, actually manages to perform worse than the Wii U, then Nintendo will likely have some pretty big decisions to make.

Why is this even a thread?

We don't have enough information, but I doubt it because two bombs in a row just seems almost impossible.

To be fair, the N64 performed pretty far below expectations, the Gamecube barely avoided being a financial negative, the Wii was a total outlier that will literally never happen for Nintendo ever again, and the Wii U is a commercial failure outright. Overall, what we're seeing from Nintendo is a general downward trend in their home console popularity. If NIntendo can reverse that trend, good on them, but realistically, it wouldn't be at all surprising if the next home console bombed. Disappointing, but not at all unexpected.

I'm sure Nintendo understands this better than the rest of us though, or at least, I really hope they do, and are taking measures to produce a machine that will rectify the increasing problems of the past 20 years.
