Forums - Sony - Sony MMO will beat WOW success

Did they forget that in order to do that, they have to write an outstanding game? yea, everyone having a powerful box that all have the same specs is cool and all, but give me a break.

The only way a PS3 MMO will do that well on the PS3, is if Blizzard put WoW on it.

At least they said "could" and not "will".

Given that WoW claims 10 million subscribers, and the PS3 userbase is just a little more than that I kind of doubt this one. Maybe 5 years from now, but by then Blizzard will have come up with something.

I'm with Torillian on this one.
This threat title and that of the source is a misleading, Sony doesn't speak of WoW in the interview.

Further: the online userbase he is talking about are the PS3-owners who are allready registered. In other words: you can have a PC+internet, but that doesn't mean you automatically start playing WoW.
That's the advantage he refers to. Register once, and you'll have a universal account to play anything

Currently they would need about 92% of PS3 owners to subscribe. Even when the install base is 30million they would need 33% of all PS3 owners to subscribe. Oh and they would need to actually make a good game as well. So yea seems pretty unlikely. WoW is a beast, I really don't see any MMO even getting close to it in the near future.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

lol way to take things out of context, and what a trolish thread title.

only on vg.

Yeah... the article is biased and this thread is biased. As was stated, WoW was not even mentioned in the small portion shown. Even worse, they take the quotes out of context a bit. Yeah, sure, every PC is plenty ready to have a connection to the internet. Is everyone of them part of a stable platform that has unchanging specs (in terms of the non-HD functions the game would use)? Nope. Does he go on to explain that it means no one would have to worry about the massive differences in hardware from PC to PC on a console MMO? Yep.

Totally biased.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

ROFLOL...I'm sure Blizzard is running scared.

Oh jeeze. Talk about a stretch of words. Point me to where Smedley said anything about WoW please.

"I am so sick of Sony trying to make its self look better than it is and lying to our face."

You need to step outside. Take a breath. Accept that companies will try to sell their products.

It seems the mods need help with this forum.  I have zero tolerance for trolling, platform criticism (Rule 4), and poster bad-mouthing (Rule 3.4) and you will be reported.

The box' online capability is not worth all that much unless you have quick broadband.
I do believe that console online gaming will be huge in a few years, but not MMO's, rather 20-60 or 80 player online games like Halo or Warhawk or Battlefield.
MMO's are mostly in PC land and will stay that way imo.
WoW has around 11 million accounts ww now I think, with over 9 million playing so to speak every day, that's quite a number to beat!

The good: I'm very happy that MMOs are coming to consoles.
The bad: It's damn obviously that it won't even come close to WoW subscribers & quality.

But it's a start.
