Forums - Gaming - So... Why everybody complains so much about Wii U's hard drive and not the PS4 one?

I have an almighty god-like 2TB external hard drive on my Wii U. The file sizes for Wii u games are not that large, I have tons of free space for saves MWAHAAAA HAAAAA HAAAAAAA!!!!

There exist Wii U games that take up 50-70% of the 32GB HDD.

Either way people complain about both

I had no idea the ps4 installs the physical game on the hdd. Like, seriously?? So what are the advantages for buying physical games? I don't get it.
The wii u is criticized for it's laughable 32gb but I don't see the ps4 so much better as an option.

You reinstall in a few minutes from discs. The patches can be downloaded in the backtgorund and you can install whenever. Download only, a few hours. If say you had a HDD failure. Or HDD transfer. 5-20 minutes. With the quick launching proceedure, per game. Net limitations can extend that.

The Wii U has the only option of external. People don't want more crap connected to their system. And more crap to be powered. PS4 avoids this. You just deal with swapping the HDD, if needed. And the X1 has a larger space. While annoying for people whow have to data manage. Less external nonsense. The Wii U OS is also crap. Slow, and or annoying because the menus are locked to the gamepad. And you may be in a position that you don't want to use the Gamepad right then and there. = More hate towards Nintendo.

Take this as an example. Who would get complaints more. FOX who has FBI warnings, ads, company logos, and trailers disable your remote, when starting a BD/DVD. Or millcreak that let's you skip right the menu.

It's like dumping a girl right after having sex with her.

Some of us like to have a long term relationship with our games.

I totally get that but how many girls can you possibly fuck at the same time?

Do people really play 8-12 games "at the same time"??

Including VC, I have over 35 games installed on my Wii U and play all of them regularly (21 without VC), with an USB drive attached that's still miles away from being full.

On PC, I don't even dare to count them all. 33 Steam games installed (out of 34), 198 GOG games installed (out of 223, the other ones I have not played yet), and over 100 from other sources (free games with a magazine, direct downloads from the devs, Desura, Impulse (32 from them btw, all bought when it still was Stardock, not Gamestop) and other sorces. And yes, I play them all. I just can't stay too long on a single game before I need to switch.

Who are these people and where are they posting?

Your playing sessions must be quicker than a round of 1 minute dates.

Not at all. Most play sessions take 2-4 hours. Like I said, I can't stay on a single game for too long, so after these 2-4 hours I need to play other games for the remainder of the week (or months depending how much I liked it). Thus I need such a big diversity as else I run out of games to play. You can compare it to a woman standing in front of her crack-full dresser and complaining she has no clothes to wear if you want. I'm just the same, but with games.

Though game sizes for Nintendo games are generally smaller, 32GB isn't very much..

You won't be able to get digital version of Xenoblade X and Smash U without getting an external drive :/

32 GB << 500 GB

what's your question exactly?

WiiU doesn't force full game installs. So 32GB is solely for digital purposes and saves. While it would be nice to have offered larger, that would only have been to be equal to others. Its not really necessary as the system design does not force the consumption of that HDD unless you decide to go digital.

PS4 forces it regardless of your purchase habits, meaning at some point 500GB is consumed no matter what and you are then required to buy external or process time consuming delete/installs.

Its a valid point. Why did everyone complain about the raw numbers but not about the system design.

With WiiU I have a large number of games, digital and disc, yet I only have my original 32GB and have never considered buying an external drive as I would just buy disc. With PS4, I'd also be forced to buy an external drive as I would not want to deal with delete/install process once I had "too" many games.

500GB should be enough for most of the PS4/X1 users since hardly anyone owns more than 10 games ...

32GB on the other hand isn't very much when you account for updates and installs (even though it's less excessive than the HD twins) or other things ...
