M.V made Wild Arms for Sony so they have worked together before. I feel like something like LoD2 would more in-house.

I do wonder if SCE will show off their rumoured JPRG this year.

Well, if the GTPlanet guy is right, so GT7 won't happen at PGW, dunnno about PSX, but doesn't seem the best place to show it, so without it we would have room to one of the three WWS game still to be announced this year, as he said. Could be the JRPG.

When Verendus first talked about 2 JRPGs Sony was doing, back in 2013, it really sounded like LoD to me, so it's either another LoD (PLEASE) or another 1 hit wonder they are trying to do. Either way, it can end being so freaking good, so I really hope we can hear about it (and see) asap!

What make you think, that it could be LoD? Give he a hint...?

I think that the playstation experience could be the right place for this, it's only the question if the game is ready to show, but let's hope so...

I dont know. PSX strikes me as far too fan orientated  to make a major JRPG announcement. imo, making that announcement on a more world stage would be better to solidfy the JRPF presence of the PS4.

But as longa s teh game exists thats what counts haha

Verendus said it's Sony second attempt at making a JRPG like Final Fantasy, the first and only was LoD.

Also he talked about two JRPGs that time, and he said the other was a new IP, but he didn't said this one was.

I may be wrong, but it was screaming LoD to me.

Another thing, he said it was starting that year, and 2012 was when LoD finally came to the US PSN, it performed really well and was the only PS1 game to be nominated to dispute PSN classic of the year (against San Andreas and Persona 3 FES). The news was delivered to the PS Blog by Shuhei himself, it was one of his really rare posts there.

Also, last year Cerny said he would love another LoD, and also that it was his favorite game from the 90s, and his was very influential at Sony by that time (with PS4 launch he even got a game, Knack), Shu is LoD producer, it was really a suitable envyronment to talks about LoD to happen, and even more after FF7R announcement.

I may be reading too much into it, sure, I'm ver inclined in doing so because of my love about the game and over a decade of waiting and trying to find any hope or hint about it, but there it is, my explanation :P

What exactly did he say about GT? Just that GT Sport would not be there? Cause that doesnt mean the next GT is not there, could just mean that its not called GT Sport as speculated. I think it would be a stupid move not to have it at PGW... its a far better venue than PSX for that sort of announcement.

I dont really see this JRPG being LoD2. Nor do I think Sony is pursing the IP anymore. Its just too old, and it doesnt really have the legacy to back up most people actually caring about a sequel. Cerny liking LoD and Shuhei being the producer doesnt really mean much I feel. LoD2 was in development and it was cancelled. If it wasnt made for PS2 or PS2 I cant see it being made for PS4.

A sequel would be cool but after all these years they are better off with something new, or with LoD2 using a subtitle instead of number and being its own game only semi-related to the first.

"Don't board the hype train if it's headed to Paris..."

That's what the GT guy said, pretty clear imo.

Also I could see a JRPG being announced at PSX, I actually think it's more of a thing that would fit in at an event for the fans (while it's still going to be watched by tons of people), a lot of whom, at least online, like JRPGs. Depending on how good it looks a JRPG might just be swallowed whole on a stage like E3. Honestly PSX is a pretty good stage for almost any Sony first party game to be revealed, imo.

But I do agree on the game not being anything Legend of Dragoon, I know BraLod would love it but I just don't see it happening.

If that is what it says then fair enough.

The thing is that atm I see PSX like a N Direct. Something that is more focussed at Sony fans rather than the general populus. Which is different for something like E3 where everyone just tunes into as much stuff as possible.

That said, a JRPG could work there after the JRPG/ JPN push the PS4 is getting. So interest mght be high after November from a general market for PSX.

Dunno, I mean yeah there was a lot of smaller stuff at PSX last year but there was also the first UC4 demo and the announcement of SFV and its exclusivity, those are huge things that could generally stand on their own at pretty much any gaming event. Also I think that PS has quite the crowd gathering ability, if they hype this right then this will be watched by millions, I'm actually quite sure that it was watched by millions last year too.

I doubt it. I think Bend Studio has a lot more talent, as they have successfully developed both their own IP's and great games in other IP's. They just were ignored due to being a handheld developer, something most Sony fans seem to ignore for all the great games on PSP, only the Japanese ones really get any credit.

When they release their PS4 game most Sony fans will be surprised. Of course I'm not taking into account Team ICO from Japan Studio, they are fantastic developers.

From that list my point becomes even more concrete. Japan Studio's output last-gen was far inferior to Bend Studio's output.

Siren, Gravity Rush, Puppeteer and half a dozen great colabs versus 3 boring forgettable handheld titles that can't even match the handheld titles from other Sony studios? No. After Syphon Filter on PS2 Bend have been a cliff note. Maybe the next game will be good but I'm not holding my breath.

Only Gravity Rush was only good game out of that list of last-gen and current-gen games they have made. Not played Siren, and really disliked Puppeteer. Syphon Filter on PSP were also good, and Resistance: Retribution was a really fun game, better than any Japan Studio game on PS3, PSP or Vita. I don't expect any Japan Studio game this gen to be good either other than TLG and GR2.

Lol no, Bend aren't even in the same league as Japan and never will, apart from ND, Japan are the only other studio worth giving a damn about in my opinion.

No offense dude but your opinion isn't worth giving a damn about in my opinion.

Santa Monica, Sucker Punch and PD are definitely way better than Japan Studio, and Santa Monica I consider equal to Naughty Dog.

That already is better than what Bend has done in over 10 years, fine with me.
