An update for anyone that cares:
So as it turns out my Gamecube was somehow corrupting memory cards (I don't know how, maybe it was writing corrupt data onto the cards) and so I will now have to say good bye to a close, time weathered friend.

I also went to the store today and bought myself a sexy black Gamecube to replace my platinum one for $15.

Man that sucks.

$15 for a Gamecube is very nice, though.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
