Forums - Nintendo - Pokemon Conference over || Pokemon Go for smartphones announced and wristband too || Everyone forgets about Satoshi

I overheard people not normally talking about Nintendo related gaming talk about it. I think it has a shot of becoming pretty big. Still, at this point it is hard to predict how their mobile games will do as there is no precedent.

Not at all, its a fair question.

Ultimately, I have immense skepticism that mainline Pokemon games in their current, high-quality form will survive more than one or two iterations on the enormously diverse iOS and Android platforms.

Hey, I could be wrong. But the problem is, if I am right, we'll only know by the time its too late to put the genie back in the bottle.

It wouldn't all be Nintendo's fault either. There is immense resistence amongst the vast majority of mobile users to pay more than $10 for a game in one hit.

Yeah sadly the race to the bottom has made a significant negative impact on the mobile games market. SQEX are like the only publisher I can think of that charge more than that and they rely on cheap to make remakes and selling to a small hardcore crowd who are used to paying a lot for a game.

I agree entirely.

And I am part of the problem.

I spent ~$200 on games in the last 3 months. I doubt I'd spend more than $10 in one hit on a mobile game though.

And I am to an extent part of the target market. I play old Gameboy era Pokemon games on mobile for example.

Sad that Iwata-san is not there and Miyamoto has to be in his place. Feels bad man.

I have a feeling that they actually already had a direct filmed to make this announcement with Mr.Iwata. Sad that he passed away so young.

If Z is all we get for the 20th anniversary I'd be kind of disappointed. Hoping for gen 7 really...

Well by now we would have:

-Pokémon Z on 3DS;

-Pokémon GO on Android and Iphone;

-Pokkén Tournament on Wii U;

-Pokémon Super Mistery Dungeon in Europe (cuz late release);

that's 4 good games, and the only one that isn't announced (but has to be released next year), so there's space for other stuff, let's say for Pokémon Ranger, or maybe even Pokémon Snap 2 on Wii U... plus I believe Pokémon GO will come to Nintendo consoles aswell, so it might be the first Nintendo game on NX <.<

eh, not too thrilled with that line up myself. It seems too normal, as in that's the kind of stuff you could expect any year. Really hoping for something special for the anniversary. Would say a gen 1 remake but FRLG kind of did that already. I suppose a fully 3D home console gen 1 remake with amazing graphics would do it... but that somes very unlikely

-Pokémon Z on 3DS;

-Pokémon Super Mistery Dungeon in Europe (cuz late release);

These I agree are no big deal and seem like typical releases.

-Pokémon GO on Android and Iphone;

-Pokkén Tournament on Wii U;

These aren't really the norm for games we see from the Pokemon Company. Pokken is especially surprising to me. Strange they didn't wait until the anniversary to announce this.
