Daggerfall is bigger than all those maps combined, I'm impressed!

You wouldn't be if you had played it.

Just because I remember a thread once asking about which game would have the biggest world, FF XV or XCX, how big is XCX's map?

154 square miles according to this:

I am impressed because finally we will be able to explore the map on real time not on chibi style character, on top of that with the graphic level of The Withcer 3. Final fantasy World is worth to explore because of the beauty and the art style. So it's really impressive if you like FF games.

It means nothing if the world is empty.

If the landscape's impressive, and/or there is a reason for it to be so big or quests use that space, then awesome.

I too have played games where the big map initially seemed cool until you realized it was mostly empty, and I hope we're not largely restricted to roads rendering much of the country side pointless.

I just hope they stuff the thing with content.

Is the size of No Man's Sky known ? /ot

I guess if each planet has a 5,000 kilometre radius, on average, then about 5.79*10^27 square quilometres. A map about 8 by 8 lightyears, more or less.

It's funny, but I don't know why I wasted my time calculating that, when I have to study and so on :(

O.T. - that would be fairly impressive. Hope SE gets it right.

that depends.

If it big just to give a sense of scope that could be cool. If they scatter random collectables around the world and expect you to wander around collecting them but have nothing interesting in those areas that would not be cool.

add me, the more the merrier.

I thought Fuel was the biggest, I had no idea. Could you actually wander around Daggerfall? Like from one side to the other? as that is 250 miles by 250 miles. It would take you, at running speed (I estimated at 8-9mph) to take 30-32 straight hours of gameplay to do it, just one side to the other.

.... hmm, not sure on MMOs though, bit unfair using cloud processing. :P

I want to say Daggerfall was procedurally generated. And yes you could roam the map.

The size of the map is not my problem, but the illusion of freedom to explore is.Much the same as Dragon Age Inquisiton.Nothing but empty space and no swimming ability with narrow pathways mostly to navigate through. In the demo you still had to follow a path because the characters could not enter the shallow water.
