Why is Nintendo of America so against releasing these? I'm rather curious over them after SSBB and if they released a Earthbound 0 + Earthbound + Earthbound 2 Compliation for DS I would definitely buy it...(and if I understand it two of the games are already translated)

Because why release it on DS when they could do it on VC....

Well....

1. It's portable, that's always a plus to games

2. Two of the games were never actually released in America (and the GBA isn't a VC console)

3. More money for Nintendo (if it was on the VC it would have to be like "6 dollars for Earthbound Zero, 8 dollars for Earthbound and 10 dollars for Earthbound 2" and if it was on DS it could be 30 dollars or 35 dollars.

4. Well, I prefer portable games. I don't like people watching my games while I play them :P 

Why dont they just translate the GBA versions? Theres a Mother 1 +2 compilation and a Mother 3. I dont understand why they wont translate, then ship them over. I have Mother 3, but its not the same without knowing any Japanese and just wandering aimlessly.

If I remember correctly we never got Mother 1 because they were launching the SNES and didn't want to take attention away from their new system, and we never got Mother 3 because Earthbound bombed in the states.

I just hope Brawl will give Earthbound some more popularity. Mother 3 US release please :(

I'm really interested in the series but I'm not much of a rom guy unless I netgame or rom hack.

The rough answer is that Mother 2 (Earthbound) never sold well enough to justify the localization costs.

With the VC out, Nintendo could at least release Mother 1 on the (modded) Famicom. They've translated it already, so it wouldn't cost them anything right now.

Mother 3 would require translation. And they'd have to release it as a GBA game. And it probably wouldn't sell (see Mother 2 sales.)

Not sure why it didn't sell well.  I still have the giant Earthbound + Strategy Guide box it came in.  ^_^

 Ice Climbers were revived for SSBM. They didn't get a rerelease/port/whatever.

 On the plus side, Marth & Roy gave Fire Emblem a chance in NA and it's doing great. (Except we haven't gotten Roy or Marth's Fire Emblem games in NA. Marth's getting a DS remake though.)

I do hope for Mother 3 getting a stateside release (since I loved Earthbound,) but...

Long ago, in the mists of time I let my cousin borrow it. He threw out the scratch n sniff cards and trashed the player's guide cover. A few weeks later his house was robbed and lost my SNES and games.
