| Soundwave said: So then don't play as those characters ... like I don't understand why you feel you need to play as them. I don't like Vega in Street Fighter. Never have. Used him like once. I don't care that he's in the game though, that's just ridiculously anal retentive over a silly thing. So what if you think a character is "useless", no one is forcing to play as them. |
It's not about whether or not I think all of the characters are useful or not (which in a roster as big as Smash 4's is impossible). I elaborated in an edit to my last post, but basically, it's still the idea of less is more. More characters is not better. More characters means more problems. More characters means more and more move sets looking like others. More characters means, inevitably, certain characters will simply be better. It is damn hard to keep a fighter balanced already when there are 15 or less fighters. I don't want or need 50+ characters. It's stupid and becomes entirely redundant, and to me, it shows poor game design in that the focus shifts entirely to fan service over logic and general quality.
Yeah, it may be harsh, but I think Smash has taken a few steps backwards since Melee, which is disappointing to me. They still got my $40 for Smash 3DS, and an additional $10 or so for the DLC characters, but I just regret every subsequent purchase because I barely touch the new characters after a few days because my mains are just better. I couldn't possibly care less if my way "would take fun" away from other people because it would mean an overall higher quality experience in general.
