They could also do a trilogy bundle that included all 3 for a discounted price

Yes, I believe it will. I think the reason Nintendo released Earthbound Beginnings was just to get ready for releasing Mother 3. Nintendo knows that the people want Mother 3. I think it's only a matter of time until it does get a release, whether it's a remaster for the 3DS or added to the virtual console on Wii U.

Who in their right mind is saying that it won't happen at this point? We got Mother 1, an unreleased game from 25 years ago. Of course we're getting Mother 3.

Hopefully is has a better translation than the subpar fan translation, though. All of the charm was lost.

It has nothing to do with the japanese version. The translation was subpar when compared to Earthbound, likely because they tried too hard to remain faithful to the japanese version. It lacked the charm of Earthbound and ended up feeling completely unlike Earthbound, which wouldn't have happened if the Treehouse localized it. It's likely why the translation was rejected by Nintendo. It wasn't very good.

It will probably be for the NX if it isn't backward compatible and is a home console releasing next year.
