Software :The first year of the 360 was very bad with only GRAW ,Dead Rising ,Fight Night ROund 3 and Oblivion worth noticing .The thing is that as it was the only next gen machine around people kept comparing it with the PS2 and focusing on the good things (graphics ,online ) instead of its lackluster lineup .At the end of the first year it started to receive big games as Viva Piñata ,Gears of War ,Splinter Cell DA ,NBA 2K 07 ,Call of Duty 3 and by then the PS3 was released .The PS3 launched with a quite decent lineup .If we look at launch lineups from consoles back to the 16 bit era the PS3 one holds its own more than honorably .Games as NBA 2K ,Fight Night 3,Resistence ,Ridge Racer 7 ,Call of Duty 3 ,Marvel Ultimate Alliance ,Genji ,Madden 07 etc gave a good choice of good and great games .The japanese lineup was worse ,though ,and has been till now ,but that isnt a concrete problem of the PS3 its just that the japanese developer market has slowed a lot and few people are doing expensive HD projects so they sticked to the PS2 for the anime/gundam games.Looking at the 360 launch lineup ,Wii launch lineup ,PS2 launch lineup ,Cube launch lineup etc I dont think the PS3 was worse .But people wanted to compare it directly to the 360 cumulated lineup or against the Wii and 360 lineups combined "cause it costs as much as the two " and in those directed comparisions it sure looked worse .As the 2007 went by the PS3 had 2 bad moments in january-february and then in may early june with very few games coming and a software drought .After The Darkness and Ninja Gaiden Sigma appeared in end june things definitely picked up and from then on lots of games were released (GRAW2,Colin Mc Rae Dirt ,Sega Rally ,Warhawk ,Lair ,Heavenly Sword ,Stranglehold ,Folklore ,Eye of Judgement ,Assasins Creed ,Call of Duty 4 ,Unreal 3 ,Uncharted ,Ratchet and Clank ,Madden 08 ,NHL 08 ,NBA Live 08 ,NBA 2K 08 ,Fifa 08 ,PES 2008 ,NFS Pro Street ,TImeshift ,Medal of Honor Airborne ,The Orange Box ,Skate ,Rock Band ,Guitar Hero III.. )until the end of the game .I think that the first year lineup is the best one I have seen with some 30 games above 8 and another 20 decent games and not counting the Store with its fair share . The start of 2008 has been quite good with games as Burnout Paradise ,Devil May Cry 4 ,Army of Two ,Turok ,MLBA The Show 2008 ,Lost Planet ,Everybodys Golf and in Japan Yakuza 3 ,Disgaea 3 and soon Valkyrie of the Battlefield .Games as Condemned 2 ,Gran Turismo 5 Prologue ,the cited Valkyrie of the Battlefield or the port of Eternal Sonata are about to launch and that will be filling the last holes in the lineup as genres is concerned ...and GTAIV ,Wipeout HD and others are really close too.

1. Games you missed out for 360 that were pretty good were Kameo, Ridge racer 6, PGR3, Condemned, Lost Planet, Saits row, Call of duty 2... come on dude.

2. Pretty much all the games you listed in your PS3 2007 and 2008 lineup of games are available on the 360 as well. Except for 3 or 4 so so exclusives...and Uncharted

3. "NBA 2K ,Fight Night 3,Resistence ,Ridge Racer 7 ,Call of Duty 3 ,Marvel Ultimate Alliance ,Genji ,Madden 07" - these are the games that you listed as PS3 launch must buy games.

NBA2K, marvel, Madden, Fight night, ridge racer, call of duty 3...all available for 360 and Genju was crap. So you have 1 game that the system should be bought for (resistance). 360 had dozens of new experiences (good or bad) that you couldn't get anywhere else when it came out.

This has been the problem with PS3 for me. Nothing I can't play on the xbox 360 that I already own. While they may be on the right track compared to the horrible start...they did not distingush themselves form the 360 which was there a year earlier.

I don't see sony as arrogant an I don't think they released late. The price tag was a little high but I got mines late 2007 so I didn't notice a lack of games if there ever was one to begin with. Sony should be confident. They offer a great machine and some great games. Theres no reason not to be. Being over confident on how much ps3 will sell year one was a flaw but I would've thought it would've sold better too based on ps2 and generally the amount of money people throw away on nothing. I think they'll wait and see when ps3's life cycle ends to determine whether theres a major lesson to be learned here. Somehow now they come off looking like the underdog.

ha! They are as arrogant as ever and that's never going to change. The high price of the PS3 was just a price they had to pay to get fanboys buy it and make it seem like Blu-Ray was selling more than HD-DVD. Their tactic work and now they are going to take their sweet time to low prices seeing how Europe is more than happy to sustain their lucrative needs even tho they get the worse deal of all.

What are you looking at, nerd?

Honestly I could care less for Sony's arrogance...I'm used to it since before PS2's launch.
I'll admit though...they do have a more favorable position with PS3 to take over market share because of Bluray but this also means that 360 will always have to work harder as a gaming machine to compete. This is why 360 will be the console choice this generation for me unless something changes drastically as I dont give a crap about bluray... I've never even bought DVD's...

Its not like Terminator 3 is a good movie now that its in higher definition.

Eh maybe it's just me... but arrogance when your in third place bothers me a lot more then arrogance in first place. If you're the best, you deserve right to brag, if you're doing the worst... any bragging makes you look stupid because all anyone has to say is "Scoreboard."

Of course journalists never do because the people they are intervieiwing choose who they talk to since the media is so diverse now, so if you jam someone like a good journalist should you aren't a journalist anymore.

I guess it was only a matter of time untill a fanboy comes into the thread bashing Sony (stangable) great...

It took Nintendo two console generations to learn from their mistakes, time will tell what Sony does with the PS4.

I agree... Pretty much everyone on this board is a well informed geek...lol. So the arrogant statements that sony/microsoft/nintendo make... we can call bullshit from a mile away. Someone not so educated in the art of videogames (like my gf who read the yahoo story last week about RRoD and told me to sell my 360 as it may break) actually doesn't take it as arrogance but probably as vital information. People like that may not even realize sony is in 3rd place...

Sony seems to have turned a new leaf though so i'm hoping this makes them get their asses into gear with the great games :D

Ratchet and Clank says hi.

Uncharted says hi.

And I can play all those same PS3/360 multiplatform games without worrying about the prospect of waking up to a dead console tomorrow.

Ok, you got me there with RRoD... For me its not a big deal if it breaks as I can get another one while I wait for the first one to be repaired. But I see for people who are students or in high school not being able to afford more than 1 console and worrying about becoming a RRoD statistic.

I have a problem with time...I only have time to play games on 1 console and I feel that 360 was THE console to play until now.

You surely know that the game of -  "exclusive games saying hi" is a game PS3 can't win at this point so I'm not sure why you brought it up. After 2008, we shall see...

I will own a PS3 at some point of this generation, its just up to sony to convince me when or microsoft to drop the ball.  So to comeback to the point of this thread... arogance alone does not help sony. If they want me to support them they will have to deliver more than just cheap shots like "Gears of war 3 will be on bluray machine". And it appears that this June they may finally have something to feel arrogant about.
