Forums - Gaming - Are there too many games coming out on PS4?

Not really. For one, I do think that more games is pretty much never a bad thing. It simply means that you have more opportunities to find games that you will like. Also, I think Sony has done a pretty good job of keeping crappy games off of PSN.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

More than anything, I want to see the PS4 make an active effort to bring back the mid-budget title, which was something that thrived during the PS2 era, and then promptly died out during the PS3 era with the movement towards AAA 60 dollar games and budget indie games, with very little in between.

There seems to be some movement in this direction. Sony seems intent on making the prices of even its AAA titles somewhat fluid, which is why we're seeing some 20, 30, 40, and 50 dollar titles in addition to the budget indie titles and the standard 60 dollar AAA titles. I am particularly pleased with how the new Ratchet & Clank, which I unequivocally consider to be the most graphically impressive game on any platform, is being priced at 40 dollars. I think having less rigidity in the pricing of games will allow for a much broader and diverse library.

as a rapid fan of puzzle games i have to say two things

1. ps4 has been the greatest console for me since like ever.  fps is all well and fine but i like genres that aren't massively popular and these small indie titles is keeping me more actively engaged in my ps4 than anything
2. fuck you turkish,.. stop trying to away my fun.

"3. more games can make it difficult to find the good stuff (there's no things like Curators or reviews on psn)"
but i will agree with you here.  that's a majority of the reason i don't like mobile gaming,.. it's not that all games are crap but that apple's store front is crap.  if it's not a top 10 most popular download are something the developer paid to feature you'll never find it.   but i think the solution to that problem is a better store front not fewer games.

sony needs to add to the psn store:

1. user reviews

2. mandate screenshots and videos,.. i pretty much dismiss anything without those as probably a shit game.  also, a better designed "description" section as the description is rubish most of the tmie because it is mostly licensing information.

3. pull out of the store things i already purchased.  it's a waste of space when i'm looking for things to buy.  have a seperate section for things in my library if i'm looking for DLC or whatever

4. gifting.  that doesn't really solve a problem but i want it anyways.

To me, there can be never too many games. So long as they are good in quality, I will not mind personally.

I don't think having more games is ever the problem.. some will be bad and unpolished, but some will definitely be good

More indies is bad for future indie devs and games since it will be hard for their games to stand out and sell well.

NNID: FrequentFlyer54

There can be a situation where there are too many games releasing simultaneously and cannot get the recognition it deserves. Prime example, October 14th 2014 releases:
- The Evil Within
- Peggle 2
- Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition
- The Walking Dead TTGS: Season 1
- Duck Dynasty
- In Space We Brawl
- Nidhogg

Because of the sheer amount of games released on the same day, so many people overlooked Nidhogg. I don't want other great indie games to suffer the same fate as Messhof did, even if they ended up being okay with sales in the end...

Another example that happened just this year, we had on June 23rd:
- Batman Arkham Knight
- Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition
- Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward
- Planetside 2
- Tales from the Boarderlands: Episode 3
- Tour de France 2015
- Riptide GP2
- Ender of Fire
- Attacking Zegeta (f***ing DenySoft)
- Shantae: Risky's Revenge Director's Cut

Of course Shantae would be overlooked considering how much it has to compete with.

Quality control is not where I want it to be on the PS4, at least Amplitude won't have this problem when it comes out...

Can we agree that bad games aren't exclusive to indies. If you do not research your games, you are just as likely to spend $10 on a bad indie as you are $60 on a bad retail game.

The internet was designed to send me insane. I'm certain of it.

There are no games on the PS4
Are there too many games on the PS4?
