Forums - Gaming - Mafia 3 is real, old wound still hurts

Mafia 1 on PC is one of my fav games, I probably played it 20+ times since 2003. I built my first PC then just to play it. It has so many great canonic moments. For many years I considered it to be my perfect game - cinematic action game with a lot of driving, great characters, great writing, engaging story.

Needless to say Mafia 2 was one of my most awaited games, screenshots looked great and it felt like it will be a worthy sequel, I had no doubts - what could possibly go wrong? As it turned out, everything.

Turned out that the reason why it took so many years was because it was going through development hell - changes in personnel, management, engine. Mafia 2 is the definition of a shiny tu** for me - it looks and works great but the game itself is atrocious - it has literally no story - you are playing random missions in chaotic order the whole time. Characters are as cardboard as can be - absolutely no development. The gameplay is the most generic third person shooter. In the original, every mission was like a separate game, in Mafia 2 they are all alike. In mid game, story mode, you are driving around city delivering cheques or something, as mafia. Then you are selling cigs from a truck, again let me remind you - as mafia.

What I expect from Mafia 3 - nothing. Even if it will be a decent game, it will still be a GTA clone, I have played enough of those.
