Forums - Gaming - Kojima was Supposedly too Expensive for Konami

Tagged games:

I still think Konami is the bad guy in all this for 3 reasons. 1. They canceled Silent Hills after giving us all dark blue hype sacks. 2. They replaced David Hayter with Keifer Sutherland when Keifer deserved his own unique character to really make his own and while David defined that version of snake in snake eater. 3. They over-charged for what was essentially a demo. Would have been fine if it was $15-$20 tops but $30 was too, too much. Kojima needs to get his own studio running so he can do things his way and make the games he wants. I think konami held him back and hindered him and his vision.

Seems like conflicting with him wasn't that great of a business decision either.

Perfectionists are not good for any company from a budget standpoint. These kind of people should get a certain budget and if they want to add something they should do it with their own money. Perfectionists rarely finish any projects, unless they are skilled at the craftsmanship of the art and thus, cutting the time to develop the art = less money spent.

Certainly, but whent he perfectionist is the core of your company, you need to diversify your assets and employees before you try to restrict him too much.

It's one thing to get rid of him if he's too expensive, but it's just petty to be taking his name off of MGS V. I think there's still more to this story than him being too expensive.

I hope Konami will go bankruptcy and then beg Kojima to come back!

Not sure how much Kojima's worth (probably not alot) but it'd be funny if Konami was going bankrupt and Kojima buys them out xD

Bread and butter can indeed be expensive.
