Yuji Horii has just announced Dragon Quest VII and VIII will be released ‘in French’…?! Apparently a last minute announcement here at Japan Expo. Guess that means both titles at coming West on 3DS. I asked someone from Square Enix and it seems Horii dropping the bomb wasn’t planned.”

My guess is that week four will be Dragon Quest X on PS3, PS4, and Vita. Dragon Quest X on Vita could be absolutely huge, akin to Minecraft Vita in Japan.
Week five is likely Dragon Quest XI, probably for PS4.

I was expecting a Dragon Quest Monsters game as that series has been dormant, sans remakes, for awhile now. However, have Square Enix given up on just the regular Dragon Quest Monsters games? Are we only getting Joker now?

Maybe if you find a Genie in a Bottle it'll happen. Or if what Horii said was true, we should be getting VII/VIII, but Monsters... I dunno. Joker 2 sold quite bad in the West on the DS when it came out.

DQMJ was fun, but I sort of lost interest while playing DQMJ2 so will just have to wait and see how this turns out.. I have my doubts on this one being localized though

Yeah, they have gone a little remake crazy on the 3DS. I guess it keeps costs down when you at least don't have to design a story from scratch. This one is a fully new Joker title though, which should be nice. It may sell better than the Monster remakes in Japan, which would give it good prospects for a western release.
