One day is over. However Nintendo hasn't reactivated their Social Media activities. At least not the german twitter channel. I would wait until Nintendo starts their Social Media activities again.

Nintendo of America thanked fans for their support via Twitter just an hour ago.

There's no specific time when you can, but you just need to be respectful, aka not posting something right away..

Making a thread about how better off the company will be thanks to Iwata's death just 30 minutes after the announcement is insensitive. Now is a good time but just 30 minutes after the announcement of Iwata's death just isn't.

Insensitive is a mild way to put it. I would say cruel.

Ralph Baer died a few years back. No one gave a shit or would have if anyone cared to make threads about him. But since this is the guy who made the Wii U and Nintendo Directs and impossible to find amiibos we have to show more respect than others?
That is why I have people haterassing me via PM? I hope you babies who keep PMing me are sending PMs to the rest as well, and why your at it PM the millions of other people all over the world who did the same thing.

In the end he is just a guy who listened to a group of peers and made decisions. How many games did he personally work on? What did he do that any other CEO would not have done in his place.

We all RIP'd him like we do anyone else. He was not a saint or a war hero or president or king, he was the ceo of a company that makes entertainment devices.
LETS STOP THE CRAZY.

Ralph Baer lived a good, long life, Iwata was only 55. People were also much closer to Iwata because of all he has done. Without him, I'm sure Nintendo would be bankrupt. The way I see it the only baby here is you

I'm sending myself harrassing emails getting upset about people not respecting some mans memory? Not like a degrated or said anything bad about him. Living a long life and living to 55 has nothingI to do with anything. One deserves less respect than the other?

lol. Nice debate kiddo. Goodnight.

I remember for grandfather dying, my dad gave me a hug and started crying.  All I wanted was for him to let me go because I did not care, but since I did not want to dissappoint my father I let him sit there.

There was not more respect given to Iwata over Baer, people are just more saddened by his death because it was unexpected and was in a higher position. We all know that you have a strong dislike for Nintendo, and considering the president of it past away, I'm sure you aren't mad at all.  However you could at least not show it, and give him respect. From that last statement it seems you have no remorse for the death of someone. Considering your age you act quite immature in this situation.

At least you're honest about your feelings though.

Edit: I guess you were a kid that time, too.

None of us even knew the guy, sure it is sad that he died, but to me it is just like a celebrity dying. Think to myself, "well that is too bad...", and then I move on. I really don't understand the communities intolerance about talking about his successor or nintendo's future without him. Sure seems more appropriate to me then mourning a guy I didn't know...

Of course, I'm not really emotional at all either, didn't even shed a tear at any of my grandparents passing... So maybe I'm not the best judge here?

The thing is, Iwata is just one man out of 7 billion. He can't have made an impression on every last single person. Many people would not have even known his name, but know and love the Nintendo brand and are concerned for the brand after hearing that the CEO died.

I do think the news is sad. He contributed a lot to gaming and was very young, but unfortunately I do not know the man so for me, discussing Nintendo's future wouldn't seem insensitive.

I suppose a good analogy would be if Tspiras died and people were wondering who would replace him instantly around the world. While it would be sad, his death would be a lesser issue to most people.

I don't think it's wrong to discuss replacements any length after Iwata's death as long as the comments are respectful.

I see why it bothers others, but I see no harm in asking questions. At least I did not ask " How will Nintendo be better without him " or something truly insensitive.

Either way, users should not be harassing me via PM and the mods should not be telling me to just deal with it.

/end of thread for me.

@ bolded - Actually, you did ask that. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=7424772 "Can life without Iwata in charge of Nintendo, now that he is gone, be different? Better?"

And you asked it just hours after the news broke. You expect people not to be outraged by that? Sheesh.

There is no harm in asking questions. There's nothing wrong with the questions that you asked. But in the event of someone's death, when it's clear people are going to be shocked and upset by it, it's common human decency to wait a day or two before discussing it. You may not have any respect for Iwata, but you should have shown some respect for your fellow forum members who are affected by his passing.

You didn't, and therefore you deserve and must deal with the consequences of your actions.

Some of us aren't thinking about cordiality or decency, just thinking about another enthusiastic topic. I for one was saddened to hear Iwata passed away. I've never met him, but I remember fond memories every E3 and seeing him there to usher in the new games and Nintendo news that would be coming soon. I can say I even shed tears when watching some of the tributes of him and already missing him because he'll never be on another Nintendo Direct. With that being said, I've waited for a whole day before even attempting at a replacement thread. Only reason why I didn't do it was because of everyone's reaction to anything negative was clearly panned by the community. But, had I not read the consensus of most VG members, I would have made a thread like that.

Well, it's been over 24hrs and I think I should have. Not because it was wrong or right, but because I knew me. I knew that I cared about Iwata, but I was still curious enough to ask. And why not other than being disrespectful? The question is on everyone's head, whose next? Well, that's my opinion.
