They prob should have uped the res and locked the frame rate at 30 on the x1. Or lowered to 720p add in the missing stuff and locked it at 60fps

Well both console version should be running at a lower resolution, have graphics scaled back, or just be better optimzied.

Forza 5 is still a nice looking game with and achieves 1080p/60 fps locked with no screen tear. I'm curious to see how good Forza 6 will look while achieving 1080p/60fps.

Forza 5 passes for a 360 game, no AA, baked lighting, no weather effects, poor textures......Not exactly a good example. It achieves 1080p, 60 FPS cause it looks poor and lacks many key features that are standard in every other sim.

Passes for a 360 game? Sounds like you haven't playing much Forza 4 post Forza 5. I'm not saying Forza 5 is the most polished racer around, but its a significant visual improvment over Forza 4.

Screen tearing, frame drops, and sub 60 fps has been a standard in most racing games and that's why Forza 5 feels exceptionally great. Weather effects are great, but smooth performance feels better.

So again, more sim racers need to scale back visuals or be better optimized. Hopefully, Forza 6 will be closer to the total package people want.

They should've lowered the resolution more on Xbox for a solid 60.

I agree, 900p on PS4 prob could have gotten 60fps locked. I personally don't think the game looks that great either way so its strange to see such a performance gap between the two. Most likely unoptomized, but what do I know?

The full face-off is up. I hate this soft look trend nowadays, 1080p is wasted on most games

However, in terms of overall clarity, image quality on F1 2015 falls short. Codemasters' excessive use of multiple post-processing effects dramatically softens the visuals, and as a result this diminishes the crisp level of sharpness one might hope for at 1080p.

We're not entirely sure why Codemasters decided to adopt this softer aesthetic - it may well be down to the pursuit of a more realistic, less CG-like presentation. The motion blur certainly adds an extra level of intensity to the races, but the use of in-game depth of field and chromatic aberration comes across as excessive to our eyes and somewhat at odds with the clarity in motion you get from 60fps gameplay.

Just drop to 1280x1080 or 900p if you're going for DVD look anyway.

The intense post-processing effects do benefit the Xbox One release to a degree though, with the lack of raw sharpness helping to prevent the manifestation of upscaling artefacts

No point sacrificing frame rate for 1080p blurry visuals.

Face-off Summary:

  • PS4 Full 1080p, 50-60fps, "less intrusive tearing"
  • XB1 1440x1080p, 45-50fps, "near constant tearing"
  • Good performance on PC, anything higher than i3 + R9 280/GTX960 should easily get you 1080p60 Ultra settings.
  • SMAA + TAA
  • Post processing effects include CA, motion blur, sharpening (XB1)
  • Some geometry, tree shadowing and light source inconsistencies on PC/PS4
  • Less AO on XB1
  • Consoles 4-8x AF/Trilinear for road, PC 16x but is variable on some surfaces as well
  • Shadow quality highest on PC, XB1 has shorter draw distance

Its a fine looking game and it still would be with visuals scaled resolution for performance.

In my opinion, if they cant better optimize the games for X1 than just drop it to 792p (to avoid 720p whiners) and lock it to 60 fps with no tear. It wont look as crisp as PS4 but it'll feel the best.
