Forums - Nintendo - I want to have a Pokémon game that makes Serebii, Bulbapedia, and Showdown irrelevant.

I stronly disagree. Not knowing any of the new Pokemon or what they evolve in to until you actually catch and train them is a huge part of the Pokemon franchise for me. Doesn't really work for older games where you already know them all, but it is something that makes the newer ones worth playing and enjoying, it's not just about training Pokemon it's about exploring their world and discovering them all for the first time.

Don't see why a complete Pokedex has to impede on that for you. No one is forcing you to look up the new Pokemon, just like no one forces you to look up the Pokedex on Bulbapedia, which is always updated from leaks with the full roster before the games come out anyway. If you wouldn't look when they're outside the game, I see no reason why that would change inside the game.

Around the Network

Unlocking the Pokémon in the Pokédex fully is part of the reward of catching a Pokémon. This is one element of the series I don't think they need to change. It would be cool if the Pokédex gave you more information about the species once you did unlock their entry, but that's about it.

And basically ditto to the bit about competitive battling. To get the perfect Pokémon is something you've got to work for. I like that (and definitely don't think Pokémon should be like "every other jRPG" as you said). Do I think there should be a mechanism to help get perfect legendaries? Yes. But the difficulty is pretty much fine as it stands for the breedables - maybe make it a little easier to breed a perfect IV Pokémon and that will be fine.

There are so many things that need to be changed about the Pokémon games, but these things are best kept to the websites listed in the topic title - and especially with regards to Showdown.

I know it's a reward. It's a bad reward. There needs to be a different reward. Crucial world building shouldn't be locked behind a 700+ unit collectible hunt. That's absurd. Again, give a different reward for capturing every Pokemon, like ribbons or ingame figures. I'm not saying there shouldn't be a reward, but Pokedex entries should not be the reward. Stupid shit like this is why Pokemon is consistantly the most hacked gaming franchise.

People hack Pokemon because the way the game is now is broken. One of the most hacked codes is "complete Pokedex" because the nessecary requirements to completing something which should be complete from the start is rediculous. You're not getting a gift, you're getting information.

When you go into a new route for the first time, you should just be able to boot up the Pokedex and look up what Pokemon are in the area immediately. What their levels are. What their moves are. What their moves will be. How, when, and if they evolve. What they evolve into. What moves their evolutions learn - etc. Instead, people boot up PokeEarth on Serebii to do that for them.

Comepetitive battling is not difficult. It's not "hard work." It's tedius and mundane. It's flawed. Again, the reason Pokesav, Smogon, cheating etc exists isn't because people don't want to work for good Pokemon, it's because the requirements to get the Pokemon you want are unreasonable. They are still unreasonable.

Looking up a guide online for where to find the hordes with the most EVs, then transfering a Pokemon with Pokerus, then making your Pokemon hold the appropriate stat boosting item just to boost one stat in an amount of time that is still reducilus isn't "difficult," it's fucking stupid. Battle pokemon, boost whatever stats you want apon leveling up. That eliminates cheating. That kills Pokesav. That's all it takes. Stop making the act of getting good Pokemon so stupid.

Most people dump their campaign teams. Why? Because they always end up with a shitty EV spread. That goes completely against what Pokemon is. Just boost stats upon leveling up. The end. Make for a more reliable and less tedious way to capture a Pokemon with the nature you want. I shouldn't have to recapture/trade over 26 Raltz/Elgyem with Synchronize just to have a 50% chance of catching a Pokemon with the nature I want. That's not difficult. That's absurd. Just make an app on the new Poke-item that makes it so you only run into Pokemon of the nature you're looking for when activated. The end. No tedius bullshit. Pokesav dead.

Stop with the multiple forms of currency that locks important hold items and TMs behind them specific and time wasting tasks. I shouldn't have to specifically fight in 100 Battle Maison matches just to have enough BP to buy a Focus Sash. That's stupid. Just let me buy a fucking Focus Sash with the 600K Pokedollars I already have. The end. Pokemon Showdown dead.

IVs should be as visable as stats are. Just call them "Gene Stats" or something. They shouldn't be a mystery that's merely hinted at. Then, when you go to breed something, you should just be able to choose, upon hatching, three gene stats to pass from the mom and three from the dad. Simple. No hoops to jump through. You should choose, not a random number generator. That's not difficult. That's rediculus.

Showdown shouldn't exist. Showdown shouldn't have a reason to exist. It's the equivilant of people uploading a Street Fighter IV browser-based simulator online because they made it so that you have to unlock every move for every character so that people have to "work" to play as their favorites. It's broken and it's embarassing. If I was gamefreak, I'd be embarassed that Showdown exists. I'd be embarassed that millions of people would rather play a browser based simulator of my game than my game. I'd be embarassed that so many people are working so hard to create and maintain a simulator of my game because it's so inconvenient to actually play the real thing.
