Forums - Nintendo - What does Nintendo need to establish a good subscription system?

With the DeNA deals that Nintendo has made, one of the things people is waiting for is an account based system for the growing digital sales, allowing people to tie their games on an account instead of them being limited to a piece of hardware. I also think that, with this account system will come a subscription program similar to PS+ or XBox Live.What does Nintendo need to establish a good subscription system, and make it succesfull? Also, what does Nintendo need to avoid to not anger the not-subscription users (ehem not putting online multiplayer behind a paywall ehem)?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

There won't be a subscription system. It will be free.

Not much to discuss then.

The billions they make from mobile content will cover it. It will be free.

I doubt that Nintendo is going to create a paid subscription service, because by now it's expected that "free" games will be offered to subscribers. PS+ does it, Xbox Live does it, EA Access does it. But Nintendo isn't interested in giving their own games away, because one of their primary goals is to keep the value of software high.

wich imo is a very good thing

While I agree with you, they aren't above giving away games for free. They've done it with MK8 and Club Nintendo for example. I think there will still be games given out for free or at discounts, but it will be based off of your purchase history as opposed to a yearly subscription.

If they do a subscription system, by the love of god, please have an option of having the online free. The last thing I want is to pay money for online cause thats just nonsense.. It is one of the biggest reasons why I skipped xbox and it is one of the reasons I am struggling to get a ps4

Just imagine u buying mk and bam, u gotta pay for online, like jesus... MK cannot ever hold its own on single player at its retail price so fuck that. I want either it being all free or I want an option to have the online part free and the "extras" can go to the people that want to pay for such a system

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Hopefully, it will remain free, but if you have to pay, it better be worth the money :/

It won't work on Nintendo systems. Nintendo gamers prefer single player games not multiplayer games.

If Nintendo cared about what is expected

If they want fans to commit to a subscription service they need to commit to properly supporting their consoles...

Have a nice day...
