Forums - General - Anyone besides me heard of Holographic Versatile Disc?

HVD is going nowhere without support and right now they have none.
Blu-Ray had great support and that's what made it take off.

Far more interesting is the HVC technology:

It has the advantage over disc-based formats in that it has no moving parts (thus does not wear out as fast). It's also marginally more affordable. Granted, players and readers are spendy now, but they'll drop in price eventually.

^^ Yeah, it's a cool technology, but we've heard nothing since early 2006. The bulk of the info on that page has been there almost unaltered since April 20, 2006.
