Forums - Gaming - Thoughts on GameStop Selling Retro Games?

What's all of your opinion on GameStop's new retro game program?  As a proud, self proclaimed retro-gamer, I love to see the attention go to the market as well as the stabilization/standardization of the prices for some of these games.

It's always nice to see continued interest in the retro game market, and now i'll know if I get ripped off when trying to find certian games.

Power to the players

As long as they are able to sell these games well, and facilitate these preowned products, I think this could be a cool idea.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

the easiest way of checking if you are getting ripped off is looking around! are you in  a gamestop? if yes, you are getting ripped off...

The prices are pretty atrocious, but then again, Gamestop's pre-owned prices have never been particularly worthwhile., even with a PUR card. The only way I'd ever feel like I was getting my money's worth was when I used my employee discount along with it and a coupon.

Prices aren't too bad but at this point, it's easier to just buy an Ouya of a decent PC and emulate virtually all of those games. The companies aren't getting paid at this point if Gamestop makes the sale.

I would always save up and buy really expensive games during the buy 2 get 1 free event.  I think I still have the recept for buying Xenoblade, Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, and Metroid Prime Trilogy.  Saves a ton, plus power up rewards added to it as well.

should have lowered the prices so they'll be a bit competitive and clearing those stocks if that is the intent.

B2G1 Free is pretty good, especially when you're smart about it. Using a coupon, coupled with a PUR card and you can save some good money.

were/are you a gamestop employee? what was the policy on giving out old displays and promotional boxes from the store?  I always wanted to get the big in-store cardboard box for certian games (zelda, Rockstar games).
