Forums - Nintendo - Reggie hints at the future of Digital games on their platforms.

I would be all for an all digital console so long as storage space was substantial. Granted, I've lived with a 32GB WiiU without an issue this gen. Only had to remove one game and did chose to buy many games via disc due to the limited internal storage. Did not want to mess with an external HDD.

Don't think that'll be an issue. Haven't done my NX predictions yet, but one of mine is that the NX will use an installable, swappable HDD system, much like the the way 3ds does the same with SD cards. I don't know if it will be 500gb or 1tb, but it'll follow that same phylosophy of letting consumers choose to upgrade the storage as prices get cheaper.

This kinda contradicts what you predicted though.

We're clearly reading it differently, because what I read completely supports what I said.

Like at the end, he said that people feel more secure having physicial copies.  That goes against having a only digital device.

After the PSP Go, I highly doubt the next handheld will be a digital only system.

PSP Go didn't fail because it was digital, so that's pretty irrelevant.

You're looking too much into the whole "physical thing" IMO.

It was a pretty big reason, lol. A lot of people who owned many physical games were pissed off.

I'm not sure how a download code card would fit Reggie's description.

An NFC card perfectly fits his description. It's not like carts save playing data anymore. They are effectively worthless now. They don't do anything that can't be done better digitally. The NFC cards would effectively do the same thing carts already do, which is basically nothing, but give the cards them selves the collective value that Amiibo currently have, but from launch.

No, he said "physical thing." Not copy. That's completely different, especially considering his penultimate sentence.

Maybe I just dont "get" it... but I prefer if a console has a physical media option (at the least).
I dont see the value of takeing the "physical media" away from users, and Id prefer if they didnt do that.

I dont think so. The physical sales of games are still doing much better than digital sales.

Pocky Lover Boy!

*Digital games? That must mean that ATLUS is developing Digital Devil Saga 3 and 4!!*

On topic: I agree with him. Physical needs to remain alive, screw digital if it isn't for small games (file size wise).
