Well it would be classic Square Enix to ruin a once great game...

I question how they think they are doing all this. It's very simple, do what you want with running around areas, dialogue etc but the main gameplay, the thing that defines FF7 (and main FF games from the rest of the shite), don't change. Is it so hard to create Cloud running alone a path towards the Nibelheim reactor and that to be new flashy 3d graphics but the battles to still be turn based in a self contained random arena... also is shiny new 3d graphics?

That would not be a remake. That would be a remaster. A remake changes a product. It adds, changes, and divorces the new experience from the original. People who just want a remaster, it already exists, has been on Steam, and is coming to PS4. All a remaster does is slap a new coat of paint on the same old content. A remake actually requires effort.

because...

"But we can't have these upgraded, beautiful 3D models of Cloud and Barrett, still lining up in a row, jumping forward to attack an enemy, then jumping back to wait for their next turn. That would be bizarre. Of course there will likely be changes there."

What is wrong with making it into a more involved experience over the unnecessary and archaic turn based system that barely even has a place on handhelds anymore?

That archaic turned based system is what defines the FF series, it is it's main gameplay feature. The stable on which all FF games gameplay was done. Why do you think many do not consider the new FF games good?

Because the story is absolute garbage and nobody likes the characters. The combat is the one thing people tend to find at the least passable about later FF games.

Interesting. If the trophys are feasible I will buy this game.

These are the hardest ones...

I can say to you that master all materias can be made in 30 minutes with Triple AP weapons at the last dungeon (3-4k AP per battle).

The gil one I don't remember how much time because all my PS1 saves have the max gil after some point in the game.

It takes more time. Master your all materia in the same place. (those red gem creatures) Sell each for 1.4 million. I remember getting so much gil that it didn't have a number for it, just a glitched symbol.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Remaster? Don't be silly, a remaster is this thing which this thread is about. I'm not talking about still having the same pre-rendered areas to walk about in.

Take Sector 7 for example. Instead of having one prerendered image which Cloud walks around in, it can be a little 3D village from a 3rd person perspective. You can wander in the bar or the training area, talk to some NPCs and all that but when it comes to combat, the small area you are in expands in a larger arena and it's turn based. I'm not looking for some weird speeded up crap like 13.

Hmm, pie.

Battle system is what is garbage in the new FFs games.

Story at least was amazing until FFXII even with a bad battle system.

lol what you're talking about is the Chrono Trigger system. Going modified Chrono Trigger is about the only way turn based will work on a AAA title in 2017 or 2050 or whenever the remake is coming out.

What he is talking about is something that will not happen due to time constraints.

They are already trying to release the game in 2017. That gives them 2 1/2 years max. If you take what Verendus has been leaking at face value -- they've probably been working on this game for <= 1 year. Thats 3 1/2 years to release a game that could cause a nerdrage storm large enough to blanket eurasia if they do it wrong. If they do it right -- square will be back to their 90's glory.

I don't think it will be cross buy if it's following Amazon's pre-order pricing. Otherwise everybody would just buy the $40 Vita version and get the $60 PS4 version for free. If they're both $40 though, they may, although I don't think the FFX/X-2 remaster was cross buy, so I'm not sure it's really up SE's alley to offer that as an option.

Some games already passed for this 60/40 bucks problem. In general, the PS3/4 version is cross-buy, so you have to buy it for the home consoles to get the free handheld version while the opposite doesn't apply. So it's either 60 bucks for the two versions or 40 bucks if you only want the portable version.

i will buy it if it is for Vita...
