Forums - Sony - New PS4 Model (Updated With New Info)

at least you seem to be worried about me being concerned
don't think sony does even care about my option. they will care, when they loose some of theire momentum, though.
this revision is not enough to attract consumers. but it's a new cheaper and ligher model for the same price, that will save sony money and reduce costs.

but it's no "new" model

Yep, keep going ... The picture is becoming clearer.

I remember Samsung announcing more efficient GDDR5 chips some time ago, could be that to. Don't think AMD is ready for a die shrink yet, and think the power saving would be bigger if that were the case.

Yeah, that should bring down the power consumption definitely, but it wouldn't explain the loss in weight. So it might just be both of them, slightly better RAM and a slightly better PSU.

Maybe that glossy finish added a lot of weight? :-p

That, and the 1TB version.
Price cut may be upon us soon, maybe just before holidays.

If the Playstation France page on Facebook is accurate, they're saying the 1TB will be the same price as the 500GB. That guarantees an incoming price drop. I can easily see the 500GB model dropping to that more attractive $350 mark, probably on July 15th when the 1TB launches since the 500GB one would just be a waste at the same price.

Nice, the matte finish looks way better!

Lower power consumption means little to me. I'm fine with my launch PS4. Takes little power consumption as it is.

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

If only we could buy a Matte faceplate for our old PS4s..... Sony pls

How did they cut power consumption by 8% and make it 10% lighter? any info on that?

Most likely Chip size reductions.

I doubt we'll get slim versions til they reach 14-16nm.
