Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: We didn't want to show "wonderful footage" of Zelda WiiU and disappoint fans at E3

Yeah that makes sense considering you already showed the game a year before release.

Do they even listen to themselves anymore?

Cool. Going back to playing Link Between Worlds thanks to the eshop E3 sale. By the time I finish this amazing spiritual successor to LttP, I expect Reggie to think a bit more before he speaks.

When companies show trailers 4 years in advance, then yes. Omfg yes, that will lead to dissapointments. But this? Come on...
Unless, he's indirectly saying that the game won't come out in 2016, and then it would be too far away

So they didn't want to disappoint the fans by showing some wonderful footage of a game that will be released next year? Well Reggie, did you see the reaction to the digital conference you actually served up? Disappointment didn't cover it.

Anything within 18 months I think is fair game at E3. I don't know why Nintendo suddenly decided otherwise this year. Last year (a much better E3 for Nintendo) they didn't mind. Plenty of games they showed last year are still not released now - and no one expected them to be or minds that they are not. We were just happy to get an early look at them.

They need to confirm that it is indeed a Wii U game and restore some faith in the system. It may lead to some people actually buying the damn thing this year if they know for sure that a Zelda game is coming for the system.

I actually agree with him, why show it now, when you can showcase a even better footage next E3

He needs to stop defending the decision, and start showing some footage. Why wait for an event? Give us a Nintendo Direct showcasing this "wonderful footage" you speak of.
