So, with the NX rumours running wild, I thought which titles would Nintendo need to start with its VC. With Nintendo pushing digital like never before, the titles on the virtual console the NX could need during its first months.

If we could choose only four titles from older consoles (including the 3DS and WiiU, let's assume it can play anything), which titles would be? Limited to first party titles. Also, how many titles will the NX VC have, and will it play every Nintendo system prior?

Also, let's assume Nintendo still won't allow old main Pokemon titles, and most of this games are single player focused (no old Smash, Mario Kart or Party), games with an optional multiplayer are allowed if the single player is the focus of the game.

Metroid/3D Zelda/3D Mario/Super Smash Bros. Nothing else matters.

It will need 100% of what exists in 3DS/WiiU eShop now plus a launch of GC games availability.

They rebuilt the system this gen as it was too Wii architecture specific. Now it is opened up and there should be no reason it doesn't work right out the gate.

All good Nintendo games, from NES to Wii U.
It would be a great VC line-up.

Doubt we'll be seeing Wii U/3DS virtual console games but it would be great to have DS and GameCube games added. I don't think there needs to be a set number of games at launch, but as long as all the ones for the Wii/U/3DS will be added eventually
