Forums - Nintendo - Tanube:True Metroid Prime will return

This statement effectively confirms a new Metroid Prime is not in development.

I wouldn't mind seeing Nintendo try a new direction for the core Metroid series on NX, maybe they are somewhere, but Prime IV clearly isn't on the agenda.

At least I still have hope, lol. I think I'm the only person on Earth who's actually sorta excited for Federation Force.

If the multiplayer is like Metroid Prime Hunters then I am excited too. I generally consider MPH the worst Metroid game (even worse than Other M) but I consider it a good game in its own right. It should have been a new IP and not a Metroid game.

Looks like there will still be a true Metroid game IGN interviewed Metroid Prime Producer on what is happening with Metroid and this is what he had to say

“I said this at the beginning, but I’m not involved in the 2D Metroid games that [Yoshio] Sakamoto works on,” Tanabe said. “I still feel like there’s a little more work left for me to do in the Metroid Prime series. I can’t say when, but I want to make another one.”
