Forums - Nintendo - Yup, not buying a Nintendo system again

A little bit of an overreaction don't you think? I was about 50 / 50 on whether the NX is coming out in 2016 or 2017. I said in a post on an earlier thread under Nintendo E3 rumors, if their E3 performance is underwhelming it's probably 2016, if its overwhelming like hit it out of the park with the dual gamepad rumor on a previous thread, it would indicate 2017 soonest more like 2018. The fact that they didn't show their big IP guns indicates they are saving them or holding back. Holding back for what? I think holding back for the release of their new system probably coming out holiday season of 2016 to ensure the launch of their new system goes as well as possible. At least I'm more like 80 / 20 now that this will happen.

Ugh, stop judging the future by the past. If it were that easy, the Wii probably would have sold very little and Nintendo might be dead in the home console market. But it's not that easy and we don't know their game plan for NX. For all we know NX could be the greatest and most inspired console in gaming history. Who knows? But for the OP to say they won't give it a chance no matter what because of the Wii U likely having a less than stellar shelf life makes no sense. Being more cautious about being an early adopter makes sense. But not swearing off a system we still know nothing about. Get a grip people.

Lame. You should burn your Wii U at the stake, like us cool, unhappy Nintendo fans do.

The previous consistent actions of a company in the past over a long time often if not usually indicates the strategy behind the actions. There is a trend line you can follow which gives a pretty good picture of where they are headed. I'm not sure, but like I said 80/20 their new new console drops 2016.

If the NX is a home console and isn't launching with a 3D Mario, Metroid or Pikmin then Im not buying at launch either. However I love their handhelds so Ill continue to buy those.

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

Geez, the presentation wasn't that good, but you're overreacting. Pipe down will ya.

Of the three companies, Nintendo was most on target with showing games that you can play THIS YEAR, or early next year. I would prefer to be told directly what I'm supposed to expect, not be promised the world years in advance only to be disappointed. People are saying "Sony had the best E3 EVER!" but what the heck is actually exclusive? What am I getting from them that I can't get on PC or Wii U? TLG, Uncharted 4, and Dreams are all that looked good to me. 3 titles. For Wii U, I have 15 exclusives already and this fall, we have Star Fox and Super Mario Maker to look forward to, at the very least. Why is that soooo awful? Seriously?

Yes, it's clear they're holding big guns back for NX. Why is THAT a bad thing? Obviously general perception of the Wii U is bad, and having a fresh start would allow them to get better and bigger things out. For all the people saying "I'm done with Nintendo forever", what the heck does PS4 or Xbone offer? I'm so tired of all the samey-samey stuff. Literally, whether you have one or the other or a PC, the stuff you'd miss out on from not having the other is minimal. It's a childish mindset to have and completely ignorant. The Wii U took a year of system updates to really shine, but it's great now as a console. Chill.

Best comment on here so far ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Our tastes can change. I had an NES, SNES, N64, GC, GBA, DS, and DS Lite. But since the DS Lite launch in 2006, haven't bought a Nintendo console. Totally a Sony guy now since the PS3. Not that I didn't also have a PS1 & 2....But to get to my point, Nintendo just doesn't interest me enough to justify a purchase of one of their machines, and hasn't in a solid 7-8 years. Hope they stick around, but even as someone who is no longer a huge fan, I find their tact a bit annoying.

It's taken a lot to overcome my deeply rooted attachment to them, but the last four years have gradually eroded my tolerance for their bullshit.

I've been on the brink for the past few months, and now I can say with certainty that while I'll ride out the Wii U and squeeze as much out of it as I can, I will not be buying NX, or any future platform of theirs.

Yeah, I may do the same. I love their games, but they're still oblivious about what they fans want, and they even troll us with some awful reveals about loved franchises. Jesus, I've never feel so bad being a Ninty fan, it's like they don't care about us.

The problem isn't with Nintendo's development of games. They are still number one in that regard. Even last year they won developer of the year. The problem is they are trying to carry two systems by themselves and they simply cant.  They can't please everyone all the time. Right now it's the Metroid requests that are going unfullfilled but the "create a new ip" requests are being fullfilled this year with Splatoon. Make a new Star Fox game is a request being fullfilled. ECT ECT.
