Watch this video closely:

I've seen lots of people saying how stupid it is that the boy jumps across to push that eye/windmill object off but for no apparent reason because the boy then has to jump back to the other side when the platform starts collapsing. Watch the reaction of the cat creature when he sees that windmill. Clearly it represents something evil to the creature and he simply can't bring himself to pass it, so the boy has to destroy it in order for the creature to progress through the level. I'm guessing there are many of those windmills and the game will centre around the creature helping the boy to get across seemingly impossible jumps and the boy destroying the windmills for the creature to progress.

That's the mechanic of this game and it's similar to ICO

I think that was pretty clear in the trailer.

If someone didn't notice the reason, they have problems.

i figured that was fairly obvious... when we see the windmill ( which has some type of strange symbolism )

the creature immediately starts hissing and drawing backwards and as soon as it is pushed off the ledge it gets more active again and saves the boy

something else i noticed is that the creature's eyes started glowing red and to me it started to look pretty evil

That was pointed out and made very clear...people didn't understand this?

I wouldn't call that thing a cat. I think it's more like a dog...

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

There is such a thing as not wanting to understand something, for whatever reason that may be.

It was completely obvious that the creature was disturbed by the "eye".

But of course if you want to call a game dumb that is where you could try.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

That was obvious, but I am not surprise that details like this can go over some people's head.

During the announcement I was like: FINALLY! Then I was like: AWESOME! And then I was like: I shouldn't have seen that, I'd rather have played that than watching it instead.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

That was obvious. Just because YOU just now spotted it doesnt mean you gotta group everybody in the same boat.

It does show Trico could have some kind of inherent evilness though. His eyes were pretty possessed looking.

I didn't 'just' spot it, I wrote this as a reaction to many posts I read on forums suggesting it didn't make sense.
