Forums - Gaming - PS3 V XBox 360. What console should you buy?

buy both if you can. Dont miss out on games like bioshock and mass effect, soon games like gt5 and lbp on thE ps3. at least when your xbox is sent for repair, you'll still have a console left to play.

RRoD Had that already. LOL fixed in a week though. To be honest GT 5 wont do it for me. Forza 2 was so realistic in Control and gameplay terms, When I played GT 5 Prolgue it felt like backpedalling. (Apart from the Graphics).

I'l wait till More RPG's are on it, then see. Cause that's probably all I'll get one for. Prob get one mid to late 2009.

You're twisting my words, krik. I didn't say MGS and FF were foolish reasons to get a PS3. On the contrary, all I did was mirror your slanted jab at MS's lineup. In your words, if someone isn't interested in GeoW or Halo, why would they get a 360. All I did was take high profile Sony franchises and did the same. That doesn't stop the statement from being foolish. And I don't make it a point to insult posters whether they are capable of being hurt by my words or not. This is why I'm careful with how I phrase things.

To the topic at hand, I can only suggest getting the console with the games you want, cause that's what I'm doing. Both the 360 and PS3 have titles I want that are exclusive, so i will have them both. It's that simple.

They are both great. buy both.

Well, because I don't see an interesting shooter on PS3. I don't really like shooters, but Gears and BioShock have so much hype that I'd really like to try. If Killzone 2 gets that kind of hype (after release that is) I'd want to play it as well. I've played Resistance and it's not my kind of game, I don't have Halo 3 on that list for the same reason. Too generic.

I was really dissapointed in MGS3, that's why 4 is not on the list, I just lost my interest in the story. But if MGS4 turns out to be really good it counts as a system seller for me. I don't really have a clue what LBP will be about, but it looks cool and I definitely keep my eyes on it.

Some games just give you the feeling that you want to play it before you know a lot of them. I have that with Eight Days and Alan Wake. And most top-tier RPG's.

I HATE racing games. I don't have any doubt that GT5 will be an amazing game, but the only racing game I'll ever touch again is Mario Kart.

But yeah, my main problem with PS3 is that it might take another 2 years before FF13 is here in Europe and that the JRPG's are starting to change system. Most will come to Wii, which I have, but if Vesperia is close to Symphonia it will be a marvelous game, LO and BD are supposed to great also. Since I loved PS2 and Final Fantasy I'm somewhat inclined to wait for the PS3 to prove itself, but they sure take their time to do that.

As for your top 4 games of 2008: I guess you missed a little fighting game that was released last sunday.

 Yeah, I don't have Wii :(

But I do play SSBB at work. We have a Wii, a 360 and a PS3 at work (besides almost every other console ever made and a few arcade machines, including an original Pong machine).

Just yesterday we had a blast with SSBB in a 4 player super smash party :)

But I think SSBB is way over rated, it's very good as a multiplayer party game but fails on the single player and it's not that much fun online.

Anyway SSB, SSBM and SSBB are probably the best 4 player games ever made, they are unlimited fun.

Sorry for my "nasty" reply. I was not mad at you I get mad with all these people claiming the PS3 is only good if you want Blu-ray. It drives me crazy. I would punch any of them if they did say it in person for sure.

If you noticed my comment was on a reply to a PS3 for blu-ray...

Anyway, you are right my comment was not backed up properly with what I had in my mind at that moment. When I said Halo 3 and GeoW I was thinking on the biggest 360 exclusives and so the biggest reasons to get it, not all of them. Of course some people might go for it for other exclusives.

Well as I have never been a MGS fan, I'd go with 360 at the moment, thought that could change in 6 months. But if I were buying today, I'd go 360 elite.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

For me, it was mostly games. Well, developers moreso than actual games. I knew that both the Wii and ps3 would have a lot of exclusive games, many of that I'd love, because of of Nintendo and Sony's many 1st and 2nd party development teams.

For the ps3 specifically it was Naughty Dog, Team ICO, and a few others.

And the fact that I own a PC made the 360's line up look substantially less enticing. Also, I find FPSes and WRPGs a bit boring, and those make up the 360's strongest IPs.

For one this post is not for coming in and saying "ooooo pick both" so just stop that right now. Secondly there are fanboys everywhere and you cant really believe anyone except people with real opinions. Such as Madskillz and krik.

Now I believe that they both are great consoles. Blu-ray doesnt really do much to someones choice unless they have a massive blu-ray collection or they are a fanatic. Both consoles have great graphics we can all agree. The 360 technically has the better graphical capability but ps3 just seems to look better.

Each have great games but the 360s list is alot stronger with hits like gears, halo 3, bioshock, and mass efect.

As for the online aspect, yes you have to pay for xbox live but you have to say that it blows the ps3 out of the water.

Overall I would choose the 360 but wichever you choose is perfectly good. Fanboys suck.....

Well i had a similar problem today on the forums and i decided to get a PS3, but personal choice really. The PS3 seemed more rounded console of the two, it games libary wasn't as FPS orientated and it's a reliable console, plus free online. (YES I KNOW THAT SOUNDS CHEAP, BIT SHORT OF CASH RIGHT NOW)

thats not cheap... its practical :)

Just to point out, people are saying the 360 is an FPS orientated console.
Yet it has more in any category than the PS3. Just wanted to tell those who are stating that.

Jap games included
