Forums - Gaming - This gen has been great for RPG lovers

I am really liking all all the available RPGs in this gen. They are solid and fun. Loved dragon age inquisition (cross gen but still its current gen). Then came bloodborne. And now witcher 3. I have played 150+ hours of it and its still going. Plus there are games like Xenoblade Chronicles which I cant play because I dont own Wii U. Really loving the wide varietly of RPGs this gen.

What about you guys? Do you like RPGs of this gen? Or do you hate them?

Yeah, games you mentioned like Bloodborne and Witcher 3, as well as upcoming games like XCXand Persona 5 really show the nice variety of RPGs this gen.

Pretty nice if you ask me.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I'm really looking forward to games like Persona 5, Fallout 4, XCX, SMTxFE and Fire Emblem: If, so yeah I think it's going to be a good gen for the genre.

Hell yeah, I love RPGs. I'm just glad that more appear to coming out this gen already.

I'm more of an JRPG lover, but there is plenty of love on that side too ; )

Eh it's ok, I do like me some RPG's but I;m not really a fan or excited by every single one of them, maybe 3-4 but not the whole lot, I'm longing for a gen or at least sooner than later for a rise of the RTS genre which is seemingly dormant as a doorknob.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Not a big fan of RPGs, but I like to see variaty.

Assuming we mean home consoles it has been okay, but I agree seems set to take off over next 18 months.

Wii U - Xenoblade looks good, but outside of that has the system had any RPGs?
X1 - Solid for western style, not so much for eastern. I found Inquisition to be one of the most disappointing games of this generation. Witcher 3 could be good and Mass Effect to look forward to.
PS4 - Lot of overlap with X1 on western, but is getting some eastern this year. Omega Quintet, Person 5, HPDN V-II, Tales of, etc. I think safe to say it will surpass the PS3 by 2017 in RPGs.

I think this post is a bit premature. There aren't really that many out yet.

The ones that *are* out don't interest me for the most part, and JRPGs (the type of RPG I care about most) are a lot more sparse than they were in previous generations.

Ive really enjoyed what Ive played so far (Inquisition and The Witcher). Looking forward to Fallout, Final Fantasy, Persona, Tales of Zestiria (my first tales ever) and Xenoblade.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine
