The Babadook was amazing, but here the message while hidden, the intentions are very clear. So I don't know, maybe my expectations were too high but beyond the soundtrack and the atmosphere, at the end I was like... "okay". without the reviews I would say that it was a cool movie to kill time. Something like The Guest (2014)

So the movie builds up through secrecy to lead you to the obvious.

This discussion is funny, with the way I talk about something I don't know and you being mindful of spoilers and not talking about the film directly. It is like playing basketball without touching the ball.

What We Do In The Shadows? was a fun ride and i was laughing my head off the entire movie. Comedy horror is not my favorite sub genre but movies like that and shaun of the dead are great imo.

I liked What We do in the Shadows first half better than the second, and with that I mean I found that part funnier. But I liked the film overall because of its relative originality.

If you like Shawn of the Dead/Zombieland allow me to recommend, if you haven't seen it yet, Dead Snow 2. That second part from the Dead Snow duo is one of my favorite splatterhorror/comedy films. The first one is direct-to-video quality rubbish through more than its first half (later part is very good if you like mindless dismemberment that crosses to the comical), but the second one is incredible, I can't fucking believe that film could be conceived after the first one. It is a bigger jump in quality than that between Terminator 1 to 2, Mad Max to The Road Warrior, in my opinion.

No mention of Starry Eyes? Has anyone seen that? I have nothing but high praise for this film which features an outstanding performance from the lead actress Alexandra Essoe. It's a serious star turn for her and I am hoping this leads to much bigger film work.

Saw it. But I was kind of disappointed with the ending. Maybe I was too into my own idea of what would happen, I thought she was auditioning for a snuff film.

Oh! Dead Snow 2! I thought it was funny and pretty clever. I did thoroughly enjoy part one as well but 2 surprised me because I went into it expecting to be let down. The insane gore was reminiscent of Dead Alive and that's never a bad thing.

sounds great, then I'll watch #2. Is there some sort of continuity?

Yeah, maybe the ending was a tiny bit of a letdown but I was so totally into the film It was easily forgiven. There is a new(ish) pair of films that I am looking forward to seeing called Bloodsucking Bastards and The other is Pieces of a Talent. I have high hopes.....

Never heard of it. I like horror movies but I don't find them that scary. Any recommendations for some good and really scary ones?

Yeah, the second one continues exactly after the events of the first one. I think the hurdle of going through the first one to the second one is worth it. But if you end up not liking them at all then I will let you PM me with an insult packed message full of hate and I promise not to report you because I will deserve it.
