I think they are dropping the Xbone and next box will come with win10 as OS and games will be like apps which can be downloaded from the win store. Same for PC. Sounds terrible idea to me

I can see next box coming with win10 OS but can't agree with the rest of your post. Dropping the Xbone, why would they do that?

I mean from now probably nothing will be exclusive on Xbone and their focus is win10 now. Moreover if the next box is coming out as early as 2018 then people will get confused and Xbone will suffer

I like the idea of upgrading if it's kept simple (maybe set ups for low, medium, high and ultra)...i don't like the idea of having hundreds of different configurations ,where its like pc.

Also could all this talk add fuel to fire about Microsoft buying AMD?

Well if they aim to unify console and PC then I would expect every game being available for both eventually. I think whatever their plans are, consoles will play a huge part, dropping X1 support would only harm them. I'm guessing the next, possibly upgradeable console is still years away from release. Right now they are bringing games to Win10 and people are freaking out..

I think MS will release a redesigned Xbox One with easy detachable parts (GPU/HD) that'll allow upgrading. The current Xbox One will still play future games but will be the low entry option non upgradable. I hope that's the direction they are taking.

Was about to say something like this, They will want to get it started soon as they are able to potentially the upcoming holiday, I also think a big part of this years E3 will be them showing there major launch of a proper Windows 10 gaming app with 1000's of games ready for holiday 2016 to launch along side it and with this Xbox would have many many more JRPG's and Japanese developed games in general than PS4  and would probably bring back the Japanese dev's to Xbox as the userbase would be greatly increased with a unified platform and probably see day 1 releases joint on Windows 10 / PS4 in the future since as many sales will happen on Xbox/PC as PS4 so would be daft to turn it down..

I know it's a long shot but we had all the talk about NX been the console AMD is starting to make chips for in 2nd half of 2016 but this could also actually be for a revised and upgradeable Xbox for November 2016 launch.

I also think time isn't on Microsoft's side with PS4 userbase getting larger and a potential for Nintendo to take back a good maketshare with an impending NX launch sooner rather than later along with Steam steadily getting more active users they need their platform to hit sooner rather than later.

I like your ideas Jazz2k and WoodenPints and I wouldn't mind them bringing something new to the table asap but I also hope they don't rush it with some half-baked shit and burn their gaming division to the ground. We all know that is one possibility 😁

I wouldn't worry much about PS4 and NX. What MS needs to do is make sure their platform W10 ecosystem is interesting to 3rd party devs and keep on building their own franchises. People want to play PS and Nintendo franchises so they will continue buying those consoles.

I am thinking that whether it's this or the next Xbox, the upgrades would be plug and play, with the GPU in a slot in the back that you can open, slide the thing out and put another one in and close it. Think of the X360S hard drive slot... they might also add a similar slot for the internal HDD. In a way, it'd be an "easy mode" gaming PC...

That might alienate early adopters like me... if anything, the upgrade will be treated as a new console (Xbox One+ starts sounding really nice)...
