Do you guys think MS will drop the X1 price to $299 this year or will they just have a Halo 5 bundle for $349? I think since it's only the third year, MS shouldn't drop the price but if Sony announces a price drop, then MS should drop it to $299.

I think it's the only holiday they will get in the next years where they really have an advantage with exclusives so that I would tell them to do everything to sell as many consoles as possible since the next years will be probably not so much in their favour but it also means that they will automatically sell many consoles so that I don't even know if they could produce so many more consoles. they definitely should have special designed consoles for Halo, Fallout and Tomb Raider but I kinda doubt that. Especially Fallout

They definitely need to be always cheaper as PS4 and they should  have a lower official price in Europe. I know that MS always says that the price in Europe is more a thing of the retailers (and Xbox divisions for the single markets) but that probably means that retailers have to cut a lot of their profit and it doesn't work for advertisement, they can only mention the RRP and if that is the same or almost the same as for PS4 it just sounds already bad for people here. But to have ads where they can mention a price where people think "damn, PS4 is x amount more" it would be good for them. Well, if they even have ads here lol.

I mean, MS's logic in many parts of Europe seems to be "retailers can cut the price x-amount if they want to" but common, if retailers have to cut like 60 bucks of the RRP to sell a few consoles and PS4 will sell almost without cutting the RRP I doubt that the profit is the same for a sold XBO so that I as retailer would try much harder to sell PS4s. Not to forget that MS should try to sell consoles in Europe and don't act as if it would be the retailers job and they don't have to do anything...

Yeah I think the same way. I just wonder if they think that Halo 5 will be the main system seller this year and because such a big exclusive is coming out, they may feel that they don't need to drop the X1's price. Back when a Halo game released on the 360, I don't think MS used to announce a price cut in those years.

In Europe their pricing and strategy is a mess. Not enough marketing and clearly too high of a price. Its a shame since the 360 did well in Europe last gen.

I definitely think MS will drop to $300, though perhaps not until November. The fact that they were willing to have a free game deal (the equivalent of $300) in June, even for one week, tells me that they'll be willing to drop to $300 by November. 8th gen is going to be short imo, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see a $50 price drop each November for the next 2 years, $300 in November 2015, $250 in November 2016 alongside XB1 Slim. Then they'll probably keep it at $250 until sometime in 2018, when they drop it's price to $200.  Then MS will probably keep the price at $200 for awhile so they can make back any loss on selling the 9th gen Xbox, like they're doing this gen by keeping $360 at $180 to help offset any XB1 losses.

I hope so. The X1 needs to be $50 cheaper than the PS4 at all times. If only MS thought like that in the beginning of the gen, then maybe they would be winning in the North America and the UK.

Yeah I agree about the shorter gen this time. I think we could be seeing an X2 in 2019.

Personally I don't think anything would change between the PS4 and X1 in Europe, Even if you swapped the game catalog's of each console around mainland Europe would still be a PS4 area.

Wow at Strike Vector EX this game looks incredible.

And Minecraft on PC surpassed an hour ago 20 million sales...Good job :).
