Forums - Sony - Sony now Calls the PS Vita a “Legacy Platform” Outside of Japan/Asia

Wrong, they refered to the Vita 1000, the PSTV and Vita 2000 are unaffected....

They were supposedly referring to the write down in hardware value of Vita 1000 hardware. This is the same hardware as in the PSTV and so it's actually logical that the write down could have been as a result of having to sell the PSTV for much less than they originally planned to.

However personally I don't think calling the Vita a legacy  platform in the West was particularly wrong. I think it's more they realised it'll be hard to shift out inventory and lower overall sales if people think it's already discontinued. I still wouldn't expect any real support for Vita going forwards from Sony because in they've not really invested seriously in the console for knocking on 2 years now. Arguably 3 if you look just at SCEA as the 2013 high profile Western releases were SCEE.

What marketing? Seriously, Wii U has no marketing at all. At least not until Splatoon, but of course that has had no influence of sales yet. I've seen like 3 Wii U comercials in total. 2 when it launched and one when Pikmin released. They didn't even really market Mario Kart 8 or Smash Bros here, apart from Nintendo Direct and such.

Where do you live?
In Germany there is almost no advertising for Playstation in TV. Nintendo is getting a lot advertising in TV!

The Netherlands.

I see tv ads for Playstation all the time over here. Also, they have a huge sponsor deal with Champions League. There are even Playstation billboards/posters and such. It's mostly ps4 though, but it still gets the Playstation name out there. And Nintendo really has pretty much 0 advertising.

Funny how much this can differ between two neighbouring countries which are so very similar.
