There is a problem in that the press often confuses pedophilia with child abuse. Being a pedophile doesn't mean they've ever abused a child and of course they should be encouraged to seek help.

If they assault, abuse or rape a child it's obviously a criminal matter and they should go to prison.

There is actually a lot of research into pedophilia.

It was a number of years ago but I believe I've read that they tend to fall into two types. (There are differing theory's and classifications but they all generally break down into these two types).

As I understand it the first type tends to relate to children socially on the same level as themselves.

As we grow into adults normally the people we see as social equaled grows with us. (Not sure I'm using the right language here) This types of pedophile never makes that switch and never started to form full adult to adult social relationships. Then when they feel sexual attraction it's for children as that's who they socially relate to.

The other type of pedophile might be normal most of the time and have a normal lives however when under stress, pressure and other issue might revert to a more child like state where upon they start relating to children as the first type did.

I should also stress that this is about pedophilia as in people attracted to prepubescent children. The press of course uses that label with anyone who's committed a sexual crime against an under age kid even if the kids past puberty.

Biologically, depends really. If it's sexual orientation -- as paedo-lobbyst groups insist -- then it's a part of the norm from medical standpoint. After all homosexuality has been listed as a medical disorder until ICD-8 inclusive along with transvetism, exhibitionism, trans-sexualism, sexual fetishism, various kinds of -philias, paedophilia included.

Socially, that's fixable. Just give more money to lobbysts, and in a decade or two society perception of paedophilia might be changed to a views "without preconceptions". It worked for homosexualism after all. Hell with that, it even worked for a certain disoreders like transvetism, which are still medical conditions officially. Doubt you could make it legal that easily, but why not give a try? Step by step lower age of consent to, say, 14. That'll make quite a few paedophilies very happy.

I agree with you at this point.Child pornography should never be legalized by the reasons you said.What i meant was  that cartoons that are lollipop-style(like ka-pi96 said before) could be used as a pressure reliever for those persons, and watching them should not be considered wrong.

Pedophiles should all get killed period. If you talk good about them and have children yourself ypur sick. I do not appreciate them. And this phenomena has grown to the extend that people nowadays dont even dare to let their children play outside cause dem sick bastards walking around.

Yes they used to marry young back in the days. Man 13 with his 8 year old wife. But you cant compare that to a 50 year old with a 13. Or a 50 year abusing one. We should protect our children.

Because it involves children, it has to be seen as a mental disorder imo. Abusing someone as innocent as your daughter or son can't be seen as a sexual orientation ever, because there can't be such thing as a romantic relationship between an adult and a kid.

It's a social taboo, just like being a zoophile. Hence why society looks down on it; obviously, comitting the act is much different that simply being a pedophile, which only refers to the attraction.

I'd say being a pedophile in itself isn't anything wrong. If you commit the act, though, be prepared to face the judicial and ethical consequences.

We no it's not consentual because the kid doesn't have the understanding to give informed consent. Even if the kid felt it didn't mind it wouldn't be capable 
of giving consent. 

As for society telling us what's right and wrong. We create the rules about whats right and wrong in sociaty and we do so so we can live together in vast numbers with, ideally, a low risk of bad things happening to us and the people we care about, such as murder, thief and rape.

That. People are not born with a defined sexuality. Anyway, anyone who's "affected" by pedophilia and is strong enough to resist his urges should not be looked down upon.

Renouncing on its own sexuality is not easy.

I pretty much think we all here agree that someone touching a child without the kid being okay with this is and should always result in painful punishment. (dick in meatgrinder  kind of punishment)

When does pedophilia stop in your opinion? I mean the age. When is a e.g 40 year old being in love with a "younger" person not pedophile anymore?  Age 12-13-14-15-16-17-18-19-20-21?
