Everyone was complaining about the dumb ass CPU from day one, except the producers of Project Cars.

Well the poducers were either being (a) polite or (b) delusional cause many other devs didnt hold back from criticising it at LAUNCH. As usual those devs were all dismissed and as usual it turned out to be true in the long run. I'll trust actual programmers over forum posters and random indie devs any day of the week.

They clearly hadnt implemented their tyre model at that point in time. Unless you think all the code and all the games features were ready back in 2013. Perhaps they fell for that GPGPU hype, but that means next to nothing if the GPU itself doesn't have the raw power to back it up.

None of this is new and it has all been brought up many times before on this very forum but no one wanted to listen, they'd rather believe in secret sauce and fairy tails. But you know whats really sad? That tyre model could probabbly run great on Teh Cell. Ridiculous.

One has to wonder how much more of these will it take for some people to just accept.

My theory is that it is more than just a game. This isnt something Final Fantasy, GTA or even Tomb Raider level, some racing game by some indie and people are freaking out. I think some wanted to believe in this game because they are still holding on to hope that the WIi U is closer to PS4/x1 and its still waiting for that game to show it. This was supposed to be it (you can look at some fo the past posts and see the comments) now this dev that was supposed to be on there "side" is now coming clean and saying sorry guys it isnt. Doesnt make Wii U a bad system, just not a system that is that capable is all.

The WiiU can display very good visuals which can compete with the PS360. What exactly about this magical Tyre model is so impossible to port (albeit with a slightly lowered level of complexity) on the U?

You may prefer listening to devs, but you can make use of a drop of common sense and try to understand it without the intervention of an expert.

Do you know the difference between a CPU and a GPU? Do you know what CPU limited means? Have you ever coded anything in your life? Are you familiar with the concept of scope creep? Would you rather they completely reimplement their tyre model (in a simulator!!!) to accomodate limited hardware, for a release that would sell peanuts regardless? *smh*

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

The game got more ambitious, especially since Namco stepped in. The game got more complex and they wanted to go harder. Too bad systems cant and tehy get left behind. They wanted this to be on WIi U, but alas it wasnt up to snuff with there final vision. Of course they should not have talked so much in the beginning. But lets not act like it was malicious, that is silly.

They should just released what they initally had for Wii U? For what? For people to complain it is gimped like they do for damn near most of the WIi U versions of multiplats? And they would still be called liars?

People arent complaining about cancelled PS360 version.

Emotions have to be set aside and logic has to come thru for a bit. No Wii U version? suspect. PS360 version cancelled? and people still believed a WIi U version would be coming? Even if it was it would be so different that they might as well had been two different games.

The problem is that the developers chose to be deceptive when inquired with regards to the Wii U version after the PS360 was cancelled. They were asked about the status of the Wii U version, and the developers kept saying, "it is still coming, just need time to work on it." The last information on it was five months ago. It would be an entirely different story if it were 2013.

@Oni. People aren't complaining about the PS360 version being dropped because most who are highly active online have already upgraded. Many WiiU owners however are single-console owners.

PS360 isnt the issue since those versions got cancelled anyway. If the game couldnt run properly on those systems and supposedly are pushing the PS4/x1 why would you believe that a WIi U version would be no problem when that system is much closer spec wise to the systems that got there version cancelled because they werent up to snuff? Common sense indeed.

Where is your proof of that? i seriously doubt that unless Wii U owners are so in love with Nintendo that they are willing to miss all the games that they KNOW will not come to that system. Not buying it, id say half of them at least are multiplat owners judging by how fast those consoles sold and how much software they move. IMHO i think some of the issues come down to nothing more than e peen measurements and list wars.

fair enough, but how do you know that they werent STILL working on it and just finally said screw it it cant be done?

I call buIlshit on that.  You have no supporting information for that and Iwata wouldn't have mentioned that the Wii U is a good secondary console if that was already the case.

The PS3 was very capable of offering an excellent driving sim with high-end graphics. If the PS3 was capable, so is the U. I don't need to be a game programmer to understand that.

Project Cars was a game which had support for the U, and that support dropped like a dead corpse suddenly. There is something very suspect about that. They could have continued to make the game for the U slightly less fancy, and still come out with a game. If financials are an issue, then apologize to your sponsors.

Case closed.

oh boy. yes the PS3 is capable, but it has its LIMITS. This game clearly went beyond those limits hence why it was cancelled for those systems. Thats what happened. Its not hard to grasp.

Now if you want to make an argument that this game should just have been made within those limits, fine. I might not agree a developer should go as far as he/she wants and is possible while still maintaining a modicum of quality, but that is a debate for another time. Would you have bought a version that would have been the worse one clearly? Be honest, because judging by the response and "sales" of past Wii U multiplats the answer is most likely a resounding "no".

I think it is somewhere in between. After the PS360 versions were cancelled they tried a little bit, but didn't really put the full effort in until after the PS4/XBO/PC versions released and then they discovered that a feature they implemented (tyre model) was not compatible with the Wii U's CPU without compromising it. However, instead of making claims they couldn't possibly substantiate throughout the years, as they didn't put the effort necessary, they should have said they intend to see how they can port the game to Wii U (after the PS360 versions were cancelled.) Explaining the development process is what people wanted to know, and instead SMS chose to explain their lofty intentions. Causing a lot of confusing, as people took it to mean the game was working even after the signs told them it wasn't, based on trust in the developer's knowledge.

where is your proof since you brought it up?

Unless you really believe Ninty gamers live in a bubble and play NO other systems or games, then IMHO that is even less of a loss considering how not well the WIi U is selling anyway. but that is a bit off topic

Think the tyre model was done then? From a quick search they first talked about this in October 2014. They obviously thought they could pull it off on Wii U. For the 10,000th time there werent any lies. http://www.wmdportal.com/projectnews/inside-project-cars-seta-tire-model/
