Forums - Sony - The Last of Us is a good game…nothing more, nothing less

It's not particularly a new idea or gameplay mechanic that made it great. It just executed what it tried to do, perfectly, like a culmination of several years of what some game developers tried to achieve.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one: if what ND tried to achieve with The Last of Us was what was shown at E3 2012, I'm going to say they didn't execute what they tried to do, at least not well.

You may be right there, I haven't seen the E3 2012 footage. But in terms of the final game (by that I mean the remastered version, I didn't play the original), what was in the game wasn't broken, or left you feeling, 'good idea but it doesn't really work right'. It's tight, refined, and polished.

Then again, so called 'cinematic' games are some of my most enjoyed, so I may be biased.

I'm curious then to what last generation game you consider to be a master-piece or "game of the generation"?

I already mentioned them, but it's a tie between Dark Souls and Bioshock Infinite.

Fair enough.

The most hated game ever

I don't think anybody actually dislikes the game.  Personally, I just don't see why it got as much praise as it did. I didn't finish it until around January, though.  When it reached "winter", I was blown away but after the credits rolled, I just thought " Hmm.  That was a great game. ". I didn't think it was the greatest game ever.  No hate, though.

With this game, I spent roughly a year listening to other people's experiences and I guess nothing could live up to that degree of hype.  No hate, though.  I own it twice! Wouldn't do that for a game I disliked.

That's because you are reasonable. How many threads have you made to complain about the game?

We got too much threads complaining about the game, the praise the remake. What is the point of making a thread to say the game is  meh 2 years after release, when so many got made already?

And from a guy that isn't supportive of PlayStation to boot. It makes as much sense as myself making a thread saying smw or oot is between mediocre and good.

Besides, for me when ms and ninty fans say it is good but not great I know that is the highest they can praise without feeling traitors or the worst they dare voice over in vgc for fear of bans.

The Last of Us is a masterpiece and highly deserved the Universal acclaim it revieved back at original release.

I platinumed this game twice, beat it over 8 times in total, never skipped a single cutscene, still getting goosebumps during the prolouges end, just cant get enough of this thrilling experience! And im still looking forward to the most demanding challenge, by beating the damn thing on grounded for additional 4 playthroughs spread on PS3 and PS4.

Personally, my GotY 2013. I would not consider it such a thing as "game of the generation".

As a Nintendo fan, I .......I might agree with that last sentence!

I consider you fair enough to really appreciate and praise games from other platforms =]

not the same kind of game, but in 2013 i enjoyed more tomb raider, GTA5 and beyond two souls.
Is still a good game, but the others were more remarkable.

When i finished tlou, i thugh that i would never want to play it again.(maybe a sequel, not the same game again).
The oposite feeling of the 3 cited games.

im a ninty fan, and among my top 3 2013 goty, neither are ninty games nor tlou.
