Cod and Battelfield are the best shooters of this gen. Doesn't mean much to beat these games in creativity and enjoyability.

Giggles...  what happend to shooters? Once a proud genre highlighted by Quake and Unreal Tournament now dominated by mediocre games :<

yeah, no, the king returns this year.  ut 2015 is on the way and everything looks just so great

Quake is still the king, UT however is a damned fine prince ;)

Is anyone else getting the feeling that this is going to be a very long thread?

It's still missing that one score of 6 or lower to really get this thread going.

If it's gamespot that give it a 6 i'm running to the nearest nuclear bunker. Hopefully they give it an 8+, that seems to be about the point that an opinion becomes valid.

Here you have the long awaited 60/100 review:

Toronto Sun:

The lack of a chat feature just ends up making Splatoon a game that rewards smart teamwork but doesn’t give players tools to communicate.

YaY

Well the game is still at 81. (30 reviews)

This looks like is gonna stay there, usually things don´t change too much after the first 30 reviews.

So far I'm only adding reviews to the OP that are submitted on MC, but I may change that later. Do you know if any of these reviewers are typically accounted for on MC?

No.  He actually said that.

Funny. Now that quote is hunting them 20 years later. Half finished games should never be encouraged.

Not really, as games can get updates and additional content today, much like Splatoon. Basically his quote doesn't really hold up well today.

The game as it is feels more 'episodic' than unfinished to me though, as they're releasing new content like every week or so (so I'm pretty sure parts of it are already finished). At least, when we consider that 'unfinished game' usually means a game filled with glitches and stuff.

Having said that it's an odd strategy to release the game like this, and it's not how I prefer it. Still day 1 though as it's a great game

Gamespot and classicgameroom review have been most trusted reviews for a long time. No matter how people bash them their review matters. And they are harsh critic.

If anything, the practice of releasing free DLC over a relatively long period of time makes for a game that remains fresh and potentially played for much longer. I know I greatly enjoy when I put a game in one of my consoles and the system tells me there's been an update with new content to explore.
