Forums - Sales - why is this thread not showing up in the hot topics?

"Hey guys,

So I posted a smaller, less detailed version of this as a simple post in another thread a couple of hours ago, but some users have suggested I make an actual thread for it so that more people can see it, I can go into a little more detail, and the mods can forward any future threads about this straight here.

-------------

I want to give everyone a quick update on the situation with the sales updates on VGC. There have been lots of threads lately - and we've been getting yelled at on social media quite a bit - concerning the sales updates being so far behind schedule. This thread is to clear up some misconceptions about how things work on the site and also to give you all an update on where we're at with the numbers at the same time, just so you have a sense of what's going on.

First of all, many of may not be aware of this but the sales stuff is pretty much all handled by Brett (although Will does a little too), and there's no easy way to delegate the workload to others beyond the stuff that Will's already taken on, which means us other staffers can't really help speed up the process even though we want to.

So please don't take the delay out on regular staffers, especially the mods, who are not to blame at all but who end up bearing the brunt of community anger. And also please stop yelling at us on social media too (and by 'us' I mean 'me', since I manage those accounts), you make Trico sad :(

Incidentally, the one thing that can be done to speed the process up is to ensure all of the upcoming games that are likely to chart and the release dates for those games are up-to-date on Gamewise (which is where the GameDB on VGC is drawn from at present), which is something Will and myself have started doing, but if anyone else wants to help out you can do so here - http://gamewise.co/games/. This saves Brett a lot of time when it comes to uploading the figures.

Secondly, we're well aware we're way behind schedule, and no this is not intended to be the norm going forwards. As for why the site's fallen so far behind - Brett's been really busy with other projects and personal stuff lately. It really is as simple as that. However, today he reassured me that things should be returning to normal soon, at which point we'll be able to catch up with the sales figures and get back to normal.

I know that's not very specific but hopefully just the fact that there's now an official announcement will reassure you that: 1) We all understand we're way behind and that the community is unhappy about this, and 2) Brett does intend to get things back to normal."

Around the Network

I am assuming by "hot topics" you mean in the front page of vgc? The reason is because it is a "Sticky" thread and "Sticky" threads never show up on the front page... The sales sitution thread that you are referring to however is indeed in the "Hot Topics" section

This thread should be a hot topic as people make threads about it almost every day. Locking any thread that remotely even talks about the lack of sales information is not the right answer if you're going to hide it in a deep corner of Vgchartz. How about we contact all of the funders of this site and address our concerns with them instead? is that a better option than allowing us to actually have a realistic conversation about the elephant in the room. I made a thread just betting when they would come back, just to make it fun, I followed all forum rules, we bet on things all the time on this site. Why would this be any different than any other time? The fact that the thread got shut down has made me loose even more faith in this website.

At least put this in the forum hot topic's on the front page, so people can blow off steam.

You do realize this site's posts and threads from members are also a massive reason for the visits, so making them happy should be just as important. Rather than acting as if this is a area 52 project and has to be protected at all costs. Rant over.

P.s. I did post my complaint in the thread, I just made it so it actually makes the front page. I have been a member for years and years. A big portion of the mods have come and gone, i'm still here. So give us a little bit of respect and at least allow the topic on the front page, as it is a hot topic.
