Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Has Their Own Virtual Reality Headset and Uses Cloud Technology

"Now, with all of that being said, it’s worth remembering this is a research project. It might see the light of day or it might not and it either case it won’t happen to soon. Plus, Microsoft is much more likely to roll-out this technology in some future version of the HoloLens instead of creating a new VR headset."

The fact that OP should not miss this part when post the news.

Mods made a new rule a few weeks ago that didnt want me to copy and paste full articles so often times i say things like read more at original source.  i do apoligize about that

Everytime Microsoft advertise something with their new tech, it's always Tech based technology! for 2 fucking years i've been listening to this shit over and over again and it's really, really getting boring. No offense to the messenger

http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/

What's boring for? they have research team for very, very long time, of course they research things.

Seriously, this news isn't even official news by MS.

And "Backing down"? researching new things is wrong now? or because it's from MS?

Don't take what i said out of context, which i actually believe you did for a convenient purpose.
I am just tired of hearing about the cloud in almost all MS related news, wether it's MS who said it or not.
Using the cloud to boost the quality on a product seem to be another publicity stunt just as what they did with the XB1.
*Cloud* is boosted to create a false hype, it will only lead to dissapointment. I can see how Cloud can be a massive thing in the future.
But let's not forget that a big enough majority of the world doesn't have internet, as well as the majority of those who indeed have internet, doesn't have a good enough internet connection or broadband. If the VR with CLoud actually work, it seem unfairly dedicated for them with good internet.
Oculus rift might be on PS4 and XB1, and Oculus rift doesn't require a damn internet to work (A+)

And this is why it just research project only right now.

And Cloud is already using a lot currently, do you know what is Azure?

"*Cloud* is boosted to create a false hype"? it's more like some people negative everything when they heard a word "cloud".

And if you tried, why would't you just leave?

it's more like some people negative everything when they heard a word "cloud".  And why do you think that?
It's more like you are ignoring the negative aspect of cloud gaming, like it's not reliable in most people homes.
But i guess it is for you, i guess you got everything you need for it so it's convenient for you to give a fuck about the rest of the XB community that is forced to have quality internet in their homes just to enjoy gaming.

Can you even read? this is RESEARCH PROJECT, and it's not gonna become a product soon, or may even not become a product at all.

And yet you say "i guess you got everything you need for it so it's convenient for you to give a fuck about the rest of the XB community that is forced to have quality internet in their homes just to enjoy gaming.", what the hell?

"It's more like you are ignoring the negative aspect of cloud gaming, like it's not reliable in most people homes."

So are you saying every Xbox One owner or Titanfall owner never enjoy Titanfall/Forza etc? it use cloud servers, is this new for you?

"Irides also does this with a technique called “likelyhood-based foveation” that renders higher quality parts of an image and ‘gracefully degrades’ others, all based on where the user is likely to look. It also uses a spherical mesh for said image. In a sense, this sort of mimics the human eye, and offers the user lower latency and higher quality at the same time."

This is interesting part. I remember back in 80s reading about certain, IIRC Air Force combat training simulator doing something similar - just rendering at higher quality what you're directly looking at.

I made thread about it couple years back wondering if this is viable way to do with games and TVs, I think we came to conclusion TV might be too small for such approach, but VR seems like perfect candidate.

So just because you see the posetive aspect of cloud gaming, indicates that i should too?
So i can't say that i am tired of hearing the same thing over and over? I am apperantly not the only one.
Is this why you got a anime dressed in a Nazi uniform? so you can walk around and dictate other people's subjective opinion on tech?
It's actually funny that you brought up Titanfall. but i am not walking down that road.

What about the 4x boost in power to the XBO? Has been a year and a half and no sign.
Just stop talking about cloud...

Crackdown will be our first glimpse of Cloud Computing.  We have actually already seen a small teaser, but more will be shown probably this year at E3.

Thing about the cloud is that there is different forms of using it.  Storage, Servers, Cloud Computing, Streaming, etc  But one thing you will notice is that more and more companies are using it including Sony.  There is a reason for this.  And if MSFT can pull off what it wants to, it can change gaming moving forward majorly.

As for games they are just now making an introduction so we will most likely be recieving more and more throughout this generation.

I personally think that waving off Cloud is the wrong way to go because i do believe it will only get bigger and bigger from this point forward.

So why you still in this thread if you tired "cloud" so much? and not happy with a research project which is no one know will it become product or not?

And even talk about my avatar now? this is not SS uniform anyway, and not Nazi icon there, it's reference from Guderian's photo.

i have no doubt that MS will get into VF sooner or later. Sony, Facebook, HTC and Samsung are all trying to get into it, and i doubt MS will stand by watching from the sidelines. they have the money resources to look into it and research it, and take the risk and release a headset if they want to.

as far as the cloud goes, well so far everything about the cloud has been all talk. until something is released and proved to be good, then i dont see why anyone should take these "the cloud" talk seriously.
