Hey, I talked about it! I'm still surprised by how much I love it, hell I'm playing it as we speak! Gameplaywise there aren't any major cons for me, heck all your cons are things I actually like! The hunger mechanic and emeras create a thoughtful risk reward system, as exploring for them awesome enhancements means you'll have to worry about your food supplies. On top of PP needing elixers, careful resource management becomes important, so the player must constantly decide whether to move on or explore. While yes emeras randomly help you, let's not forget the many things that randomly hurt you, such as traps, monster houses, enemy pokemon evolving or worse, picking up an looplet with an awakening emera. It all balances out! |
Nice to see someone didn't forget about the game! But yeah I see what you mean, careful resource management is key. In later dungeons I found myself saying "screw it" in regards to exploring a whole floor if I was running low on Elixirs or Apples. And thinking about it more I feel like emeras aren't that much of a con, it just felt dirty winning a fight due to them. Something very interesting I learned about emeras however is that you can "use" them (no not setting them in the Looplet but actually using them) to temporarily buff up a stat depending on the color of the emera. For example, green ones buff HP (though not as well as Oran Berries).
Anyways I'm not surprised you're still playing though! I barely finished the main story and want to know how many Pokémon I got? 61. Yeah I still have a ways to go.
